Swinging from a vine.
Sooner or later, I'm going to redo the downstairs bathroom and would like to put an old clawfoot tub in it. I've got a line on a cheap one but it is pretty beat. Anybody have any experience in reglasing one of these things?

I have no idea if there are any professionals in the area that can redo the finish, but if it is doable I wouldnt mind attempting it myself.

any advice?

I'm pretty sure the stuff there using is an epoxy..and I think it's pretty lethal as well. Depending what your spray equipment will do, I bet if you check Google you'll find a ton of stuff. As with any paint job it's all about the prep.

thanks... yeah, im not sure it's something I want to get into upon further review. a local company quoted me $600 to do it... i've seen tubs in great condition for less than that recently.... sooooooo, i guess im going to have to pass on the tub.

I've never seen a re-do job that stood up well for more than a year or two.

We have had a fibre-glass one for about 6 years now. It gets used daily and still looks good.

The guys that did mine always took them back to their shop and baked the coating after applying it. THe coating held up fine. MIke
