Yeah. They slide into that channel pretty tightly but are then also pinned by 6 small rods that pass through the bottom of the “T” jaw.nice! How are the jaws held in place on that ^ one? Is it just a press fit?
Turned out great!@Guyute That looks amazing! Looked into the Sculpt Nouvo a while back. I just got my hands on a HUGE 8” Ridgid (Columbian casting) and thought I might try a “poor man’s version” of that process. Basically just oiled up and heated it a bit. Then sprayed flat black (lightly) while ragging it mostly off. I like how it turned out.

Indeed. Used the black oil from Sculpt Nouvea then their clear coat over it. Some paste wax on the sliding bits and bearing grease on the big a55 screw thing. Fluid Film on the handles. No idea why I spent so much time on this thing. Oh. That's right.... because I read through this thread before purchasing a 'new' vise.Nice! Has a clearcoat look to it.
Nope. You pointed out that it was in there backwards when I got it. Must have been that way for years to stay out of harms way.@Guyute Did you have that split nut machined? I have never seen one that pristine. Looks fantastic!!!
