Well I just hit the one year mark on my headlight upgrade using Hella Halogen 80W and 100W bulbs, and one of the low beams went out.

Anybody got an update on sourcing the good quality halogens (in think they were the german made ones)?

Also, has anyone run higher than 80W for the low beams (using Slee's upgrade harness of coarse)? I honestly don't notice a tangible difference between the 80W bulbs and the OEM bulb I just put back in to replace the blown bulb. Whereas the 100W highes are noticeably brighter.

Thanks,

The Hella stuff is pretty much crap nowadays. Perhaps there are enough interested for another group buy on the HIR bulbs. Do a search here on HIR.

I currently have an German exchange student living w/ me.
He is getting his dad to look into shipping me some bulbs. I will post when I find something out.

I agree with Doug on the Korean Hellas but if you can get the European built Hella, they are really good. I actually boought some Hella Korean, and put them in my 80 on a harness, and they are awesome. Huge difference. They have been in for 2 mos. now with no failures. They were about $6 ea.. I am trying to get some Euro Hellas through my distributor.

for the H-4s the German made Hella's are still avaible, we just got a box from Hella of the 80/100's.
