I've always had more than one vehicle... I'm thinking about getting a Tundra to go along with the 100.

Having a 100 and a Tundra feels sort of redundant to me, so I'm a little on the fence. But the Tundra will be so much easier for Home Depot runs, plywood, etc etc, and it's a lot newer. I was looking at 4 door sedans and a crew cab truck is so much more usable. I work from home, so gas mileage isn't a huge thing for me.

Anyone else have both? Any regrets?

I don't have a Tundra but if your Home Depot runs aren't heavy, have you considered an aftermarket roof rack?

If I wanted a truck but didn't need to haul, I might consider an old toyota pickup (late 80s early 90s) with a 4 cylinder. I used to have a rust free '91 22RE single cab that I regret selling. They're super cool trucks, cheap parts, easy to work on, and a good investment.

I don't have a Tundra, but I do have a first-gen Sequoia. Personally, I like having two trucks with the same engine... makes stocking up on maintenance items easy! With both back rows of seats folded down, it swallows 4X8 plywood and drywall. Plus, it's our go-to vacation road trip family truckster because of the extra room.

It's not as nice as the LC, but still a very nice vehicle. If you are set on a second truck, it's hard to wrong with a Tundra.

...or a (folding?) trailer. Even keeping it in a nearby storage would be cheaper than another truck, plus you could probably free up some garage space.

rent a $20 open trailer uhaul for those random needs.

will be cheaper in long run.

Haha, guys... I know I have cheaper options. Be it a trailer or 10 other options. There's more expensive options too, like I get a 991 that I've wanted for a while. I'm buying a second vehicle either way... right now I have 3, so this will actually be a reduction in force (after I sell the other two). :)

More just making some conversation - and wondering if anyone has a truck (especially Tundra) as their second vehicle, and how they like it.

PS - Its possible a boat and occasional travel camper is in my future as well. The 100 can tow, but having a truck for that option would be cool as well. Overall a crewcab truck just seems like a pretty usable option, if you can get past the gas mileage.

I had a first gen tundra (2004) double cab and it was a great truck. The newer ones felt a little oversized for me and the first gen still had the 4.7 V8. Pretty easy to find them with low mileage and its a few years old so you can treat it like a truck. Here's mine in Joshua Tree.

My 01 Regular Cab V8 4x4 is my Tow Beast really!
I love the Tundy and it is by far the most comfortable truck that I have had for long distance drives which I do a few times each year.
Just as bulletproof as you are used to here too and amazingly even gets better MPG than the 100 but what doesn't too?!?!.

I've been researching full-size trucks. It pains me to report... the Tundra is not loved by the magazines/reviewers. Worse... the 2019, 2020 Ram gets great reviews - subjective and objective. Above average reliability, better than Ford, Chevy/GM and Toyota in safety... a damn dodge.

I mean, it does look a little like a 2016+ 200 Series (that grille, lights)

I've got a 100 and 19 Tundra pro. Jusy put some MT tires on the Tundra.... I'm about 80% sure I'm going to ttade my Tundra for a 19 or 20 200....if that means anything to you.
Step dad has a Dodge if I need a truck.

200K miles, drives like new, not a single drop of any fluid leaking, idles quiet like a mouse, i drive it hard too. That 5.7L in a lighter body can really move. You can pick up these for cheap these days, like under 10 grand.

I'm very jealous of your garage. The actual garage.

Yep, I drove all the new half tons. The Ram was the best, IMO. The tundra was the second. The Ford third and the GM 4th. My 2 cents, if you are interested:
- The new Ram interior lives up to the hype. It also drives the best of the 4. Reliability? Im not so sure about that. The previous EcoDiesel (I'd love an efficient diesel) has a myriad of problems and the 5.7 has big issues with its lifters. Rams always had a rep for their interiors not wearing well, so I am interested to see how it plays out. BUT if I was buying new with a warranty, I'd get the Ram.
- Even though the Tundra is old, its still a Toyota. Very few inherent issues, the interior isnt as "nice" and full of tech, but its the most solid of the three. I also liked how it drove second best.
-GM and Ford were pretty close. The GM interior, IMO, is horrible. A Denali is 70k and the interior is a joke. The Ford seemed to have better fit and finish, but it still wasnt that nice. Neither drove as well as the Ram or Tundra. I like the idea of the ecodiesel, and I'm not sure if the 2019/20's are better, but the earlier ones people didnt like towing with them because of shift points in the transmission.

TBH - I dont want to buy brand new. So I think the Tundra is the best choice for me as a result.

NIce man. But I dont want a 200. They are cool and all, but if I bought another SUV it would be a Cayenne.

Tundra's seem to be cheaper on the east coast or something - I thought I'd be able to get a higher mileage crew cab (I want 4 doors) for a reasonable price, but its impossible. Great looking truck btw. Those headlights look really good!

I have a 2019 Crew Platinum Edition. It's the 4th I've had although I also kept my father's 2005 for several years while he went south for the winter. I've personally owned a 2011, 2016 Limited, 2018 TRD and my current. The were all crew cab models.
I absolutely love them. They have a great ride and I personally believe paved the way for current full size trucks as far as comfort goes. They are the first trucks that didn't ride like they had axe handles for shocks.
The engine pulls very strong and highway driving is comfortable. I like the throttle response, ride, and space. The crew models fit you and three linebackers very comfortably. I refer to my Tundra as a minivan on steroids.
I don't love the bed space on the crew. I can do most of what I need and also have a 12' landscape trailer. I do wish the bed was slightly longer but that is the trade off for having a Toyota with crew cab. I haul my kids, friends and family much more frequently than I haul full sheets of plywood.
Overall, I love them and they do exactly what I need.

Here are some pics. As you can see I kind of like the grey. Sorry about the Nissan product in the picture but it was a deer hit (the day I brought it home) and the only pic I could dig up of my 2011 Tundra.

I have both. 2000 LC and a 2004 Tundra. I bought the Tundra with 28K in '05, it now has 254K and its never had an issue. Nothing has ever failed on it. Its been an amazing truck. Don't think I'll ever get rid of either of them. Great combination of vehicles.
