Hello,
I just got my 79 4x4 plow truck (see posts in chit chat) and I went to change the oil today. The oil was easy, but the filter was a huge PIA. I got the new filter in from the top, and the old one I let drop to the ground. Is there an easier way? So what is the best way to change the filter on a 20R?

I guess it just comes from changing filters on 22Rx motors for 20 years. I also do mine from the top, always by feel, never need to look where it fits. It just seems to spin on by magic. My 22R was way easy, the 22re are a little tight with the AC hoses, but still not a problem.

It's gonna spill, and I just accept that. I do place a bunch of paper towels under the the filter before spinning it off, but it still makes a mess.

You know what , I just realized why changing the filter is a huge PIA, it is because the hyd pump for the plow is mounted in front of the filter, so it blocks it. So I guess I have to drop the filter from the bottom.
