(btw-thought there was a thread on here about this, but searched and couldnt find anything)
When i got my 4runner, i quickly found out that it had a leaky hard top. right around the portion that goes over the cab.
Turns out the PO had seriously fubared the OEM seal that is glued to the cab right behind the B-pillar.
Quickly found out that toyota no longer makes this seal. at all. there are none in existance anywhere. its unobtanium! (part number 65888-89102)
anyway, since i had to do something, i made up something to work from Mcmaster carr. it seemed to work great. no leaks with the hard top.
well summer came around and i wanted to put on my new-used canback top. when i put it on i noticed that the seal had to be squished down a good bit compared to the hard top.
well, after being on all summer, its ready to come off for the hard top to go on for winter. well, when i took the soft top off, the gasket i put in there never really "un-squished" . so now its too compressed and the hardtop still leaks.
So, my question is, since i am still screwed, does anyone have a solution / aftermarket part number for a seal that will work in place of the OEM one. (and now the mcmaster carr seal that i thought had this problem licked)
Thanks
BTW- i was hoping to go camping this weekend in NC, so quick responses would be really appreciated. but its not looking good right now.
