I want to go, but I sold some tires to a fellow mudder, and am driving down to Vacaville Sat. morning to deliver them. Wish I could go and hang-out with everyone, and break in the mew MTR's!

I just got an e-mail from NorCal TTORA. (I'm on the mailing list), and Mike was told that "Barney Riley is melted, but it's too deep to cross the river to get to the hot tub".

Just thougt I'd share, not trying to rain on the run!!

88/89 I believe there is a road right there on the south side of 88
called burnside lake rd (prolly not posted) there should be a parking lot type thing right there, you cant miss it . If anyone has a better disc. post up
thanx.

...so, to summarize you are trespassing on someone elses land (could have been my friend who owns land along the stream there) and fishing without a license. you get busted but try to get off by some technicalities but you get called on it and have to pay a fine. which you think is unfair because somehow you didnt technically do what youre accused of but dont want to pay for a lawyer to prove that (but you as much as admit your guilt so you would lose anyway).

and you hate markleeville for it.

huh.

good luck to you. welcome to california.

markleeville is one of the coolest places in cali, aside from the fact that the redneck bar that was there with all the panties on the ceiling is now some hoity toity restaurant.

welcome to california? I've spent pretty much my entire life in California. I know how California works.

I posted a very much abridged version of the events that unfolded -- it was a pretty big ordeal at the time.

First of all, the definition of criminal trespass -- which is what we were accused of -- requires us to knowingly trespass, be asked to leave AND refuse to leave. We were never asked to leave and therefore we never left. We were cutting through a field to get to the stream. had we been asked to leave, we would've left -- no argument, no problem.
Secondly, we weren't trying to get off on a technicality. We were informed of the law -- or are you referring to the law as a technicality? The law states that only fish&game wardens can cite for fish&game violations. I stated that we all were cited for fishing without a license. Well, two of us had licenses, but the deputy didn't seem to care. He told us to take it up with the judge. Apparently, it was his opinion that if one person in our party was guilty, then we all were guilty. Interesting interpretation of the law, no?

at the time, I couldn't afford to hire an attorney, nor could I afford to miss several days from work to travel to Markleeville to attend court several times -- it's matter of simple economics -- pay a fine for a BS citation or pay 4 or 5 times the amount to prove I'm right? It would've been stupid to do the latter.

yeah...I accept the blame for what happened -- we were stupid. but that doesn't mean that I can't think Alpine County sucks and that doesn't mean that I don't think they prey on "flatlanders"...funny, a couple of the local rednecks called us flatlanders -- amazingly enough, it wasn't the first time I've been referred to as a flatlander -- go figure.

So f:censor:ck Markleeville...f:censor:ck Alpine County...f:censor:ck that panty-laden bar (yeah I was in there)...and if it was your friend's property that we supposedly tresspassed on...f:censor:ck your friend too.

I'll never set foot nor spend a single dime in that f:censor:ckin' rat hole again.

besides -- who the f:censor:ck are you to tell me that I can't hate Markleeville?

Rookie alert! Looking for good 1 or 2 day trails to take the stock 60 with 31s on. Any overnighters upcoming? Wished I joined earlier, sounds like there was an outing just this past weekend?

I look forward to meeting you. If you feel the desire to discuss my experience, fine -- we'll chat...if not, whatever.

As for severe, well...I'm sorry you took it that way, but if you're going to chide someone, you should expect a response. Those who know me, know that I'm pretty much the same in person as I am online...the good, bad and ugly. Don't like me? Fine...there are plenty of trails out there with room for everyone.

Best of luck to you.

i dont know you so i cant not like you.

hopefully we can talk some time in person...im much the same as you describe...pretty much the same in person as on line.

i realize you were chiding me; i just was wondering why it took you so long!

i find i can get along with most all people if i give them a chance and they give me a chance.

hell maybe we can go up to my buddys place there in markleeville and go fishing without the cops showing up!

hows that for chiding?

best to you as well and since we live in the same town i figure theres a pretty good chance of crossing paths at some point. its a small world and an even smaller sacramento (as i find out every time i go to safeway and run into ex-girlfriends i had hoped i would never see again!)
