Any interest in another July S.E. Az. meet?

I've got some FJ-60 stuff that came with my 2F engine. They are from a 1985 FJ-60

They are FREE - Let me know and I will get them up to Mount Lemmon for pickup.

Bell Housing
4 Speed Transmission
Transmission Extension Adapter
Flywheel
Clutch Release Fork & Associated Parts (Cast Type)

The transmission doesn't turn, but it did when I got it. I think that the problem is due to the shifter internal "stuff" sliding into the wrong position when I removed the shift lever. It has been in my garage sealed up since I got the motor.

That bell housing is off a 2F? That, and the 4sp just may find a home in my 40. Anybody know if it will fit?

If so, I am definitely interested.

The bell housing will fit a 2F. With the Tranny, there's a couple of things that might make this harder for a 40.

1) I think you need a split case transfer case.

2) The adapter on the back of the Tranny adds length (actually makes the whole setup the same length as the H55 - 5 Speed).

Somebody who knows more about the FJ-60 should weigh in.

Let me know if you want it, and I'll bring it up.

Chuck

IIRC, it will also adapt to the 3-speed case, just need the correctly splined gear, Don give Tim a call, he has done a few.

Just to clear a few things up transmsion and bell housing can be made to work but not really worth it. This transmission sounds like the 4/85 and later with the spacer which eats up space you don't have in a FJ40 with the six cylinder. Tail shaft is ninteen spline and will only work with a slpit transfer case. A simple three speed gear doesn't work. Plus with a split case you lose the hand brake unless you can score one out of a HJ47 from OZ. The problem with the bell housing it is not made for the motor mounts. Starting in 8/80 Toyota used a crossmember under the transmission instead. I believe two of the threaded holes are still on the passenger's side but smaller and only used to to support the clutch slave cylinder.

Also, those of us who will be coming in from the North side will need to take a minor detour for a $5 permit at the Palisades ranger office, otherwise a suprise may make it under your windshield wiper.

Last call, plenty of time to make it to Oracle at 10am.
Coronado just lifted the fire restrictions today.

Excellent!! looking forward to meeting everyone and putting faces to the names.

Thanks again to everyone for putting this together and allowing us to get out of the heat.

I totally dropped the ball when it came to picture taking.
Hope some of you have something to add.
Here is my one pic:

Just a great way to spend an afternoon, with a bunch of great folks and a special thanks to the hosts (Chuck and Linda) who in our opinion, have the best getaway on the mountain.

BTW, John, the rain caught me at Saddlebrook, and followed me to Tangerine and Thornydale.

Also, I am bad with names. What are the names of the delightful couple who own the motel?

Jim and Marney, we can take them anywhere, they do fit in don't they.:D

Should have rented a room and the 40 would still be dusty.

Great to meet everyone.
Thank you Chuck, Linda and girls!

It was great fun. Nice and cool and just a sprinkle of rain up on top.

I am hoping Rex will post up a link to his pictures - I think he was the only one thinking!

Plus all that "awesome wheeling" to get down to the cabin. It was almost like going out on a trail run!

Chuck

Well, I did get a few pic's. It was great meeting or getting reacquainted with everybody. Sam told me he had a good time getting so much attention. Thanks John for setting this up.
