Do you also call the 100 Series Land Cruiser the Amazon, because that's what it was called in the UK?
Are you serious? PRADO is the worldwide name used for the 150 and now 250. Your example is the exact opposite. Amazon is anything but worldwide, so why should I use it if I am not in the UK? Come on...

Not anymore, it's just called the 250 Series Land Cruiser now:

Toyota Global Apr. 18, 2024 press release:

The vehicle names have also returned to their roots, with all models unified under "Land Cruiser" *1

*1The "70" series wagon models from 1990 were newly marketed as the Land Cruiser Prado; since then, the Land Cruiser lineup has had two vehicle names: Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prado

Not true. It is still called/sold as PRADO in most of the ME and Asian countries. The PRADO name is also used in the EU countries where the 300 is sold (which are most of them). Check the link.

Just cause you drive a Prado doesn’t mean your pecker is small.

Clearly done to fool the Americans and apparently the British. The 250 is a follow up of the 150 and is called a PRADO just about everywhere.

I think @ryanCA made it quite clear with this one. Enough said...

The folks that own FJCs, when you tell them they don't drive an LC.
What?! Is this also a thing? Come on...now this is getting delusional. I can clearly see from here the PRADO owners with their pitch forks and torches, ready to nail those FJCs owners. LOL

The only delusion on this thread is from "real" Land Cruiser owners ... don't you have anything better to do?
Perhaps, perhaps not.

As a Toyota enthusiast I would have been happy to embrace the 250 as a Prado, which is a Toyota line much respected and enjoyed globally. Does raise the question why we have the 4Runner as well, but I leave that aside.

The issue is selling the 250 as if the Land Cruiser has returned. We all know the 200 series Land Cruiser was succeeded by the 300 series and many of us would have liked the choice of the same in Toyota trim instead of a Lexus 600 with massive spindle grill. Once my 2014 BMW 535d falls over I would have enjoyed buying a LC 300 beside the 200 we already have. That choice has been taken away from us. There are other low volume models on the market in the US from other manufacturers, see no real strong reason why Toyota would have not. Other than perhaps rather selling the high price/high margin LX600 while maintaining CAFE targets. Or thinking we are dumb enough to see the 250 series as the return of the Land Cruiser.

Do you think Porsche or Mercedes or BMW enthusiasts would have appreciated the global Cayman being sold as a 911, or the global C class as an E class, or the global 3 series as a 5 series? I would find that ridiculous even pathetic. Do not think that is delusion. However Toyota did exactly that here in the US/Canada and maybe the UK. Imagine the next Corolla here is based on an updated global Yaris or a next Camry on an updated global Corolla. Not only doing that and then also claiming how it is cheaper and more fuel efficient. I mean common, that is just beyond ridiculous.

I get it, Toyota degraded your status symbol. What does that have to do with "Any buyer's remorse after getting the new 250?"

Not responding to any point I make is a good way to communicate…

Regarding status symbol, do not think that is a Toyota thing and a reason some of us specifically liked the LC200 vs the LX570.

Regarding buyers remorse, realizing you in fact bought a Prado and it is nowhere near as capable as the 200 series Land Cruiser (eg front and second row seating space, or RAV4 driving experience or limited tow capacity or lighter dimensions drive train).

And to add to the issues, Toyota marketing treating us as idiots and engineering + manufacturing making a joke of delivering quality.

There's not many of you. More like a few. This has been proven over a decade plus of 200 series sales figures, which were low overall. And lower for the Toyota LC which sold significantly less volume than the Lexus LX during every year of production.

I understand that the LC200 was not popular here in the US. I should have said several. With many I meant those currently owning 200’s. Again that is based on my sense and one could say an assumption.

I guess the fact the 250 series is a 150 follow up and not a 200 series follow up is clear and undeniable. Also Toyota playing naming games with their product lines no other car manufacturers do (unless there is, happy to hear examples).

IMO to bad they did not just provide clarity on this and many more of us would have embraced for what the 250 series is, a light duty line Prado.

Oh well, try this for size. I had a 200 and heard about the "new Land Cruiser" coming to the US. WOW. Awesome. That is what I wanted - not the end of the LC in the States. I immediately jump on it, trusting Toyota this is the "new LC". Yes! Oh, no. It feels a bit different than my 200 now. More like my wife's GX460, not even that because it is so light and denty...maybe my old 4Runner but with a buzzy engine or a big RAV4. Yes, that is what is feels. But wait. I bought the "new Land Cruiser". What happened Toyota?? Well, sorry, gotcha! It is actually a PRADO, but do not worry in the US it will still be the "new LC". Now I want my bank vault, hefty feeling, V8 roar back. I was tricked by Toyota's marketing. Is that enough remorse to pass your muster and be allowed in this thread? What ya think?

Nope. To have buyers remorse you have to actually purchase the vehicle. You didn't. You are just making stuff up.
