Any advantage to TRD radiator cap?

I don't get it.

If your radiator is boiling off with the stock cap...then you got problems.

I wouldn't want a higher pressure cap to mask those problems, so I drive around thinking everything is OK, until real damage is done.

It would be used for situations where the engine is running straight water (w/ additive) or a reduced ratio of anti-freeze/water. The reason for doing this is because anti-freeze reduces the thermal transfer properties of water, so using less of it increases the capability of the cooling system.

Increased pressure raises the boiling point of water, so you reduce the risk of boil over. That is the reason for using the TRD cap.

That said, if you run the typical 50/50 mix of antifreeze & water, stick with the stock cap. I don't think we want any more pressure in our 13+ year old systems as necessary. :)

Hold it, here I was thinking the lean was due to the added spots to store your latte and donuts? Man, I was waaaayyy off. :eek:
 
Alright sounds like a waste of money is what I thought just wanted to check with everybody else.
