My wife seems interested in harder wheeling trips so looking at Dusy late September. Just wondering if someone who has done it can comment on the level of protection needed? Our 80 has front/rear bumpers, winch, sliders, low range gears, but no extra skid plates. Should I snag some skids before we hit this trail? I think I'm OK with the potential for body damage but any pointers welcome. Cheers.

From what I've heard you'll be glad you have them. Interested to see what others say

You need skid plates. Bring a welder.

Carnage last time I ran it: sheared my sector shaft, tore my upper control arms off from each other (adjustables), and tore my front control arms brackets from my front axle housing. Fun times. Took us three days to run it.
Thanks! Yeah, I may need to find a buddy for this one.
Appreciate the insight!

My concience, err my wife, would downvote that trail.
She's much more likley to hop out and scout ahead than I am. And when she comes back shaking her head "No", it's just easier to agree. LOL

But when she comes back and starts reaching for the valve stems to drop more air out of tires, "GAME ON".
