I'm installing a boost gauge and was wondering if a T fitting into this little doohicky would be sufficient? i would rather not drill into the crosspipe unless it's absolutely necessary.

also, anyone know offhand what this green plug is for? it's right under and to the left of the oil filter.

Looks like a coolant or oil temperature sensor for the glow timer. The glow timer adjusts its glow time from 2-3 sensors spread around the engine.
I think there is one on the inlet manifold for air temp and another on the oil cooler.

Im assuming the 1HD T is the same as a 1HZ.
 
i don't know..maybe the port is too small???? i can blow on the boost gauge tube and get a reading, so i know it's working, but when i hook it up to the pictured port it won't read. i tried it with a t-fitting and then without anything else tied into it.......i got nuthin.
 
hummm, i have used that port on a number of installs...
not sure why it doesn't work for you.

as long as there is pressure in the cross over then there will be a reading on the boost gauge.
