Here's a picture of what I will use to dump oil into the oil pan. No welding required.
 
nice clean idea, it should be just as good as welding, and you only have to worry about shards from drilling, not from weld slag.
 
I see that I posted this in the wrong thread, I meant it for the "oil pan man" thread...

both require removing the pan, it comes down to if you have a welder or not. Price is similar too.

leaving stuff behind from drilling or what not is called "swarf" in my occupation.

they say clean up your swarf!
 
i have bolted in the past, i just did 2 pans with welded in bungs and much more secure feeling knowing there is no parts that can come loose and no chance of leakage...
each to their own. if you do not like welding then take the pan into a welder with some coffee and douguts and get it welded up...
