Bumper looks cool so far, but what's with the roadkill? :flipoff2:

How much you take off the frame?

are you bolting this on through the previous receiver hitch holes? Side plate 1/4", and indiv pieces welded or one piece bent? seriously, it's looking good so far.

whew... seriuos progress man.......... lookin good? what spindle are you running? show how it mounts if you could?

I like it. That wouldn't have crunched on me. I just couldn't finish what I had. It wasn't the right direction. Time to fire up the torch or call Trent?

I lopped about 3-4" off the end of the frame. It's cut right between the captured nuts
for the tow hooks.

3/16" on the side plates. I know that it's kinda thin, but, the square tubing on top is 1/4" wall 2x4 and the pipe underneath is .120 DOM 1.5" and there is only about 2" of space between the two pieces so I think it will fair okay. I will be bending the plate around the tubing underneath, I think, not sure yet.

First pic is the assembly blown apart sitting on the bumper with the nut tack welded in place in the square tubing to the right. There is a oiless bearing in there too. Total $ for the parts there is around $13. It's rebuildable and replaceable too. :) It's made up off tractor parts and it's all hardened steel.

A not so good pic of the nut that came with the spindle welded in place in the tubing. Ignore that nasty tack weld on the tubing. I fixed it.

The spindle in place. What I like about it the best is that I can remove it if I want to. That was necessary for the jerry can holder bacause I don't want that thing on there all the time.

I'm not getting to it today, but, I should be able to get it almost finished up tommorrow night. Plans include a flush reciever too. Now I know why it's bling to get a bumper that someone else has made. It's a lot of work. :D

This is the tubing structure under the wings. 2x4 1/4wall tubing on top with 1.75" .120 wall tubing on the bottom.

This is the underside where all the structure is visible. The ends have also been trimmed and will be capped tomorrow night. The end frame mounts are not finished yet either. They will be much beefier.

This is the side of the wing where the plate connects the square and round tubing. I haven't decided yet if I wanna leave the weld alone or grind and polish it like the others. It is upside down in both of these pics.

Test fitting of latch.

Tooth Fairy, that latch does not look like the 1000lb variety. It looks like the smaller one. I have seen those small ones fail when used on tire carriers. Not saying yours will, but now would be the time to change it.

Nice work,

You're right, it's a 700# latch. I remember thinking the same thing when I pulled it outta the box. It looks kinda wimpy.

That looks great! Good job. One suggestion, I'd gusset that side tube up on the frame, like a slider. This will get some abuse and you don't want that side protection shoved into the body.

I'd leave that weld as is, it's a good weld and grinding it off just makes it weaker.
