A 1985 Celica Supra. Bummer that it is an automatic. But hey, $400 who can complain.

Towed it from my neighbors house to mine (~400 ft). Changed oil and plugs; flushed radiator, engine, and gas tank. Poured a little Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders, hand cranked the engine to work in the Mystery Oil. And...




Tested the fuel pump. Not working. Will have to drop gas tank to replace. However, I did run it for 30 seconds or so using starter fluid!

Plans, get it running and enjoy - new belts, vacuum lines, and who know what? I am planning to keep it stock. And rear diff is a limited slip with 4.10 gears.
 
Looks good Andrew! You can't argue with the price. Do you have to worry about emissions? How many miles? That will be fun once you get it going.

Drifting...NO WAY! However, whenever the time comes for suspension I am going to look into what rally has to offer. I like the stock height, but 1/2 inch lower would look nice. But then I defeat the purpose of going with a rally setup. For now, I just need to get it on the road.

I dropped the tank today. Fuel pump is not turning and just generates a lot of heat. Ordering a new pump tomorrow.
 
Hit the fuel pump with a mallet a few times and see if it gets it going. I know you guys think I'm kidding but my auxillary tank was not pumping, I looked around online to trouble shoot, had the hot fuel pump, hit it gently a few time in my hand and viola! Working the same for over a year now.

No emissions, Sandoval County. Miles=112K.

Nice to not have to worry about emissions, and that's obviously low miles for the age of the vehicle. If the previous owner(s) has taken any care at all with oil changes and maintenance, you should be able to get a lot of miles out of that one. I like it!
 
I don't know about the autos, but the 5 speeds sure are fun. My brother had one for several years and dogged the piss out of it. Tore up a couple rear ends, swapped a tranny, wrecked it several times, and ran it over 300k. I remember being with him doing 130mph on the interstate with a headlight stuck up and the hood only on the safety latch because he slid into a guardrail in the snow. Amazingly smooth still.

There is an '82 Supra at the Pick-n-Pull on Broadway that was unmolested as of last Saturday and all body panels were there and straight. It is a 5-speed with relatively low miles and I think it was less than 150k.

Installed a new fuel pump last weekend. Had a hard time running at idle. I had to keep the engine at full throttle to keep the car from stalling. At full throttle RPM was only at 600. Although I cleaned out the tank and fuel lines, there must have been gas from Year 2003 still in the injectors. Once the old gas burned out the engine was much happier. Shifted the auto tranny through the gears while at a stop. Then slowly pulled out the drive and up the street. Drove 1/4 mile then accelerated a little more. The car was not sure what to do after sitting all those years; then suddenly it took off. Up to 5,000 RPM and 35mph (keep in mind that my street is only 15 mph) and decided that all is good....it runs. The engine ran smooth, but I have a hole somewhere in the muffler.

Reached the end of my street (1 mile) and turned around and went home. I then proceeded to start cleaning the engine bay in preparation for new drive belts, timing belt, water pump, seals, thermostat, plug wires, etc. And the dreaded cam tower gaskets.

Yesterday I pulled the throttle body off so I can remove the cam towers. Later today I will drain the radiator and start removing the belts, timing covers, etc. I have never removed pullies and the like before. This will be a learning experience.
 
If you are going that far you might as well remove the radiator to make access easier and have it cleaned. Sounds like this is going to be fun.

On one hand I'm a little jealeous and jonesin for a wrenching project (especially a risen from the dead type like your Supra or my 944). On the other hand, I'm dreading having to do a major repair to something without access to my tools or a work space. I guess if something breaks I'll have it towed to Beno's. :D

No problem, come on over. I will leave the scrub brushes and purple power out for you! The hood is down but not latched shut. I already pulled all the drive belts, fan, and radiator so you will have more access to parts to clean. The camshaft housing is already clean. Once you have the front parts all clean I will pull the timing covers so you can do more cleaning.;p Oh, the front is on jackstands so you can get underneath and clean the bottom of the engine.

All this and you do not even need to spend a dime to get a project running again. The coveralls are in the hatchback so you do not get too dirty.

There, did I fix your need for a project car?

Thanks Mike. I finally got to the pull lot yesterday and the 82 supra was relatively untouched after a few weeks. Scored missing interior trim panels, tail lights, vacuum hoses, etc. And needless to say some highly sought after pieces that I will re-sale.

These trim pieces and lenses were very important as appearance is means a lot; the wife does not want an old junky looking car hanging out in the yard! A nice wax and good clean inside and I might be able to keep it.

Hopefully I will have all the belts replaced and cam tower housing gasket replaced by next week so I can actually drive it.
