You lucky SOB! Nice tray, where did you get the new cross section that holds the batt down and how much? What gage steel was that?
Nice $8 lol that's awesome. I have made my own and yea, that's cheap and easy lol. I'll be using those blue prints for sure. Gosh I have been so lazy lately, to overwlmed to work on the rigs. But we got a little run next weekend so I.need to get a few thigs done. Working hard to so that takes up my extra time. Hope to get another spert out there soon and finish some stuff up. This is encouraging me as usual!
Srf,
The 27 I had in there is the largest battery you can wedge in the factory tray, IIRC.
My old 27 was 12.75"(L) x 6.875"(W) x 8.875"(H) 750 CCA
My new 65s are 11.8"(L) x 7.2"(W) x 7.4"(H) 930 CCA
Greg's 34 is 10.9" (L) X 6.8" (W) X 7.8" (H) 850 CCA
You don't necessarily need a height spacer for the 65.. It's about 1/2" to short for the stock tray set up, but you can get the clamp to tighten down snug without a spacer.

Did that group 65 Platinum fit into the OEM battery tray?
Joe, here is what reevesci said when I queried him earlier this week. https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/691066-new-battery.html
I'm picking mine up today, if there are any issues I'll let you know.
Yeah the Group 34 will need a shim of some sort underneath to shim it up high enough for the tie-downs to hold it securely... I happened to have a 3/4" piece of ply that I cut to fit the rough dimensions of the tray and put that in, that was the perfect size (drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom so there would be some airflow beneath).
