After many, many PM's, phone calls, texts, emails and pic swapping...

Georg and I made a deal on a new 5 speed and transfer case with all the goodies... LUK clutch kit, bolts, shifter, oiler, rear main seal and pan gasket.

My transmission and transfer case is in need of some serious work and has 205,000 original miles on it. So, I felt a 5 speed conversion was in order.....:grinpimp:

Can't wait to get this here and installed. It'll be a couple weeks.

I have been wanting to do this for sometime and Joe_E's pic of his today made me go crazy... I guarantee there will be NO BUYERS REMORSE on this transaction for me.

For all of you that haven't had dealings with Georg... He's a class act and is extremely helpful. I highly recommend him as many here will agree.

Glad to hear.
I really wasn't about to post up the price Georg gave me as that was between us and surely costs and parts have gone up in the last year. I'm sure you understand.

Tip-

Transfer case levers are different from the early to post 85 set ups. Before you panic, make sure you have the correct shifter. :hillbilly:

Joe, I understand completely and as you notice I didn't post a price either...

Transfer case shifter won't be an issue for me. I will be installing Georg's twin sticks on this conversion too. :grinpimp:

Got the main battery cables on with the new wires, covers and military clamps.

Plan on getting the rest done as soon as I have more time.

Still need to wire the Painless battery controller, fuse block, build auxiliary cables, and get breakers wired up... It takes me forever to do electrical work... :meh:

Like the look of those covers, mind if I ask where you sourced them and the wires?

God I really wish I understood electrical better and could wrap my head around it.. I want to attempt SLCFJ62s harness so that I can run my stereo and add a USB charger for phones and what not in one of the knock-out panels..

Looking real good dude.

G,

I am terrible at electrical, but give me a thread with pics, some simple language and I can get it figured out. The auxiliary fuse block is pretty straight forward.

I'm going to add mine and put a 100 amp breaker before the block. I like the breakers over a large fuse. Don't really know why... Just the way I think electrical is suppose to be..:meh:

LOL.. well then you are further along then me. I can do just about anything to computer but put that schematic in front of me and I just scratch my head... If I could figure out what lines started where, etc, then I think I might be ok. Also, not really sure how his Ultimate Box and the FJ60 harness go together.

Oh well, good luck to you man! I at least have a small soldering iron so I can start playing (yeah for $15 spent at RadioShack!)

Wasted your $15. You couldn't even light a cigarette with one. I bought one and threw it in the trash after one try.

I still have that harness if interested. Half done.

The thing with soldering guns is high wattage. Get something like a 40 watt. I have only used the irons, which once plugged in remains on/ hot. I hear these are better than the guns with the on/ off trigger. I too started with a cheap low watt iron and couldn't even get little R/C car wires to get hot...

Yes, you need the hotter/wattage. I have a Weller 60W and it has melted every solder I've ever put up against it.

Got the covers and military clamps off eBay they came as a set for around 45 bucks for the 4 clamps and covers. The red 1/0 marine cable was 5.20 a ft and the 2ga black cable I found for 1.89 per ft at the local welding supply. Tinned lugs were about 1.25 each.

Thanks, my battery cables are fairly well shot and I need to replace them soon.
