Maybe I missed it, but please tell me that the hitch receiver (is that what I'm seeing) on the ladder-side swing arm is for a BBQ. That would be SWANK!
But if it is, it needs a bottle opener right beside it!
Congrats on the safe move, BTW.
Congrats on the safe move!!
Good stuff J!
We need to race our 60's![]()

But, a 4BT is still on the TO DO LIST if not a 6BT... MOO HA HA!
Thanks guys,
J
Go for the 6BT
They fit really nicely and sound great too.
OH I'M IN A DRY COUNTY.. I HAD TO DRIVE 38 MILES FOR A 12 PACK TODAY!!!!
I'd say it's high time for a keg-o-rator and a couple 1/4 Barrels then.

I-
There are 2 cruiserheads in Austin with cummins, one with a 4bt the other with a 6bt, both 80s. If you come down I can arrange a meeting/test drive. I like the 6bt better, it's the only cruiser that puts me back in the seat.
Steve, with the 6BT.. how much clearance do I need for it to clear the front axle/pan. will a RS with a 3" OME spring lift do the trick or do I need more than that??
J
I have a habit of using speed if it is available. That's a good way to get into trouble, which I did when I was younger (Boy did I).
I swapped in a Dana 60 and shifted my front axle forward 4" so any measurements I give you won't be super useful. I would look into Rastaforte's build he used cruiser axles.
You're talking to the kettle there! I had an unreal amount of tickets when I was younger- something like 58 by the time I was 19 or so. I got them all "fixed" through a (now closed) loophole with the help of a family attorney. That was 20 years ago though, I drive much more sane now.![]()
That is exactly why I don't need a 6bt. One of the reasons that I bought a Land Cruiser was that it is kind of slow. I have a habit of using speed if it is available. That's a good way to get into trouble, which I did when I was younger (Boy did I).
I can pick up a 6BT pretty much for nothing compared to a 4BT
I wonder why that is? I too have noticed that I could get a used, low mileage, good running 6bt for cheap. Hmmmm?
Most likely because they were put into far more vehicles than the 4BT, and there doesn't seem to be nearly as many people using the 6BT as a swap candidate.

Don't necessarily want to go fast but, the pure torque and power are sure nice when you really need it. A 4BT is not out of the question yet. I can pick up a 6BT pretty much for nothing compared to a 4BT. So time will tell what I do.

Why stop there? Why not keep it Toyota and go with a twin turbo 1VD-FTV 479 ft-lb @1600-2600rpm hahahaha
