All the hype and expectations of the improvement a JimC carb will make? They're all true.

I have no doubts... Just want to get it here and be running smooth.

The current one has been abused by several non-mechanic types. I have it running decent for my skills, but it is nowhere near where it could to be.

Got to the twin sticks this afternoon. Went well and I like the results. I suppose every install is different due to what the person wants it to be like.

I can say that with the shifter boots back on the H55F and TC are super quiet!.

Damn that looks good... Did you have to do any modifications to the floor or the t-case itself to get it to fit?

G, No mods to the floor or TC at all. You can get as complicated as your mind/skill allows with the bending of the shift rods. I of course wanted something that I could access from either underneath or above. So, my bends were fun. I used a welding rod for mock up purposes. Bent it to get the angles I liked, then I transferred that to the 1/2" rods. ;)

Especially your preferred method of cleaning out the remaining components and lines.

I'm a newb to a/c, as Rex knows, but what is the expansion valve? I did everything you are about to do except for the compressor itself and the expansion valve...

Thanks A, It's been along time since I did any AC work. So, I have a guy here that is gonna help me out and refresh my memory. However, I emailed Rex at Coolstream about the flushing and he responded with this:

Hi Jason,
The best way to flush the system is to disconnect all the hoses and flush the sections individually, in the direction of flow. You may not be able to flush thru the evaporator if the expansion valve is closed, although you can always pull the case out from under the dash and disassemble it. I wouldn't worry if you can't flush the evap as the drier will usually trap debris before it gets to it. Folks have had good luck using an aerosol A/C flush from Autozone, that has a tube attached to allow you to reach various components. Allow 15 or so minutes after flushing to allow the solvent to evaporate. Once everything is buttoned up, vacuum for a minimum of one hour before charging. The condenser is the most important item to flush.

Oh, and just so everyone knows he is out of the country and still helping customers via email and MUD..

So, that is the path moving forward for now. I will use an aerosol from the parts store like Kwik Klean or Interdynamics AC flush etc...

The expansion valve’s place in the system is at the evaporator inlet. Like any other valve, its job is to control flow; in this case, the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator. Since system operating conditions vary (sometimes high cooling demand, sometimes low cooling demand) it is necessary to be able to adjust the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator. For any given operating condition, if we were to allow too much refrigerant to enter the evaporator, it would get too cold, and the moisture collected on it could freeze. This would not allow the hot interior air to pass through its fins, and the refrigerant flowing inside the evaporator would not be able to absorb the heat from the air. This would eventually bring cooling to a halt. If we were to allow too little refrigerant to enter the evaporator, there may not be enough to properly absorb the interior heat, which would also result in inadequate, or no cooling. This process of varying refrigerant flow based on system cooling demand is referred to as “metering” the refrigerant into the evaporator.\

So how does the expansion valve know how much refrigerant to meter into the evaporator, and how does it do it? First the “how it does it”, and it’s quite simple. Expansion valves contain a movable rod which travels up and down inside the valve. As the rod moves up and down, it can open and close the passage inside the valve that serves as the flow path for the refrigerant. The valve does not have to be fully opened or fully closed at any given time. Its position can vary, or modulate, between the fully opened and fully closed positions. Because of this, it can very accurately meter the precise amount of refrigerant needed to meet any given cooling demand.

How dark are you going? I kinda like having no tint on mine so everyone can see me and all my awesome s***, but during the summer, my left half will easily get sunburned through the window lol.
Maybe if i find a steal like yours i could just tint for the summer, tear off for the res of the year.
 
I like having tinting specifically for when I carry my riding gear. Hell my mtn bike is worth more than my truck and while I do have it locked down inside the cab, I would rather not have someone looking inside to see what treasures I have for them to "discount" to themselves. I need to get mine redone because the PO did a piss poor self install job.
