back from the past with a little update....with a homemade cargo net, the hard way!
pretty self explanatory...got some nylon straps of different sizes from a camping store, took some measurements, decided to latch them on using eye-bolts around the perimeter of the deck, while not getting in the way of sleeping (with mats/sleeping bags down, i'm sure we wont notice them), hand stiched every intersection (took a lil while! but i kinda like doin mundane stuff like this) arranged so that i could use the buckles for some of the strapping. i can fold the net in half to cover the rear part, and secure part of it to the top boxes, or i can take the top boxes off and net everything down, lot's of ways to tie things down. should be fun tryin it out for the first camping trip!
a bit of a pain tryin to line things up, taping the mock up down before doing tape and small stitches to hold the shape/weave before stitching it properly and making it strong enough to hold camping stuff down (camp chairs, tent, bags, stroller, etc..nothing crazy heavy so it should work okay)
folded back, the buckles will meet the strap ends. i added 2 straps midway to anchor on the top box to hold the front down while the straps fold back (sorta sandwiching the contents). i think this way it's quite versatile...the one end with all the buckles i can always use for more connecting points when using the whole net if, say, i had to drive with the bed folded down...
. . . hanging baby crib and integrated baby change table comin next!
