Flybys are important to me, like I mentioned before on here I come from the fast car world and nothing to me sounds better than a V8. Well, except maybe a Lamborghini V10 or V12. I plan to do a flyby and exhaust video of our 470's exhaust soon. Plus the wife and I are going to drag race each other. I'm at a huge disadvantage in my 460 being heavier in both my personal weight over her and the weight of the 460. LOL She's gonna smoke me probably.

I hear you. I come from the Mustang world, which is why my first mod was waking up the whisper quiet stock exhaust. I have a deep philosophical problem with running a gas guzzling V8 and not being able to hear it.

I'll try and record a fly-by in the next few weeks, but currently the forecast is snow, snow, and more snow. Wish someone would've warned me that there is snow in Alaska before I moved up here... :p

What spurred the move?

Did somebody say Mustang??

100%. Its why we replaced the muffler in the 470 and man does it sound glorious. I really need a better video than this, but you get the idea.

That sounds great. Definitely louder than the Overland Series! Must sound great under load too.

Sounds even better under load and almost like a damn sports car at WOT.

What the???
Is that a 69?? Hard to tell without looking at the taillights.
I'm guessing it's not all matching numbers. ;)
So aside from body work, just how wicked are you going to go with that 'stang?

He sent me a pic of the engine, my god what a masterpiece.

What brings you to Alaska?
What spurred the move?
Work, essentially. I finished grad school right before the pandemic hit, and––like a lot of people––I reevaluated things and decided to make a change. I love Texas, but I lived there my whole life and I felt it was time to start fresh somewhere.

And the great pay in Alaska doesn't hurt. I work in healthcare and Alaska is always looking for healthcare workers.

And technology too. You wouldn't think so, but it is. My brother was able to get a very well paying tech job up there. Almost makes me want to try and convince the wife to go... I almost applied for a killer remote job up there... I got stopped.

I’ve had dreams of Alaska also. Last frontier sort of.

@Analog - I won’t hijack your thread with the Mustang, but couldn’t resist when I saw the mention.

@r2m - it’s a 68. Putting an Aluminator XS in it. 5.2l, forged internals - tuner tells me it’ll be 650 HP on pump gas, more on e85. Full overhaul, frame off, suspension upgrades. I’m building it like I might autocross. I can tel you more but I don’t want to hijack the discussion here.

You will need a block heater. Perhaps a battery blanket or warmer (heating pad) too.

I put a block heater in my dearly departed lx470 (lost in a divorce 8 years ago). It gave me warm air at startup. The O-ring failed on her 2 years ago. I assumed block heaters were maintenence free, they are not.

One last quick question and we can put this to bed.
If you're going to autocross, are you going with an IRS rear out of a newer Mustang or solid axle?

Haven't added anything yet (including a winch), but finally got some time to explore.
