i wonder if the whole barrett jackson thing is full of guys trying to make a living selling restored cars and cutting corners to do it. it reminds me of the fights i had with a contractor who did the framing for the addition on my old house during the resto. despite my telling him i would pay the cost to do things a certain way he did them his way, which was cheap and wrong. nice enough guy at first, but his motto was "good enough" and he was incapable of doing better and had long ago reconciled himself to lying to his customers or staring them down if necessary.

What do you base this theory on? Do you really think the cars at Barrett or Mecum are half assed restore jobs? Maybe there are a few, but do you think those auctions would be as popular as they are if everyone was peddling junk and ripping people off?

theory? what do you base your reading skills on? i said "i wonder", and i explained the basis of the wondering.

wonder [ˈwʌndə]
vb (when tr, may take a clause as object)

1. (when intr, often foll by about) to indulge in speculative inquiry, often accompanied by an element of doubt (concerning something) I wondered about what she said I wonder what happened

or it could be buttface is just using the auctions good reputation to flog his s***?
obviously he isn't a "upstanding" individual.

That, is awesome...

They should have used an Olds diesel custom cruiser wagon

I love the "I do not and will not take any pictures at this point, if you are serious and know cruisers you will be willing to make the drive to my shop..." Like wanting to view pictures of a $38,000 vehicle before committing to go out there makes one frivolous. Are we to suppose this guy actually believes the narrative he has created? Or that he is simply trying a different recipe for the con?

he is setting the tone for a no hassle sale. anyone willing to start off a prospective purchase on those terms is unlikely to cause him any trouble later. and is also probably into bondage and discipline.

wow!
interesting ad. if i am going to purchase a vehicle i want pics, pics of the bad. the idea i would fly, rent and drive to his shop to inspect a vehicle on "his word", even though i do know cruisers, that is a seriously BS demand.
i am sure there are those out there that will be willing to be snowballed into a sale.

He operates like a con man. :frown:

Must've sold them all...
