Hi,

a friend of mine recently disconnected the batteries of his HDJ100, and now the seats, mirrors and steering wheel don't keep memory of their position. The memory "set" button doesn't beep, either.

Do you know if some kind of "reset" operation is needed when reconnecting batteries (like the "auto" function in the driver's window button)?

TIA

all i know is if you disconnect the drivers seat plug underneath, or the battery you need to reset the memory positions. As far as the set button not working, well he must have done something! :D

When this happened to me, I changed the battery and everthing started working normally again.

Yes but he installed new batteries, and the memory doesn't work with the new ones.

I am having this same issue - just put in a new battery and now the memory function doesn't work. As you noted, the beep doesn't even happen when trying to set it. All other power accessories work fine.

Did you ever figure out the solution to this problem?

pushing the memory button to go back to the position will not work. You have to actually re-SET the memory position holding set down and pushing a memory position. Then move the seat, and hit the memory button, should beep and go back to where you set it.

Maybe the fact that I am not moving the seat is preventing the re-set from working - will give it a try.

Edit - didn't work, even got the manual out to verify I was doing it correctly. When I push both set and the #1 button simultaneously I neither get a beep nor is the button programmed.

I am guessing it a problem with the controller and not the memory - thoughts?

Maybe it was broke before I changed the battery - I haven't programmed the buttons in a long time.

I had the same problem until I realized the car had to be in "P" and the foot off the brake and so on. Did you follow the manual exactly?

Try pressing SET first, then pressing the number. From what I understand you're pressing them at the same time. You have to press SET first. Maybe when you're pressing it at the same time, it registers it as pressing the number first and then SET.

^ tried that too, both at the same time and then SET before the number.

I have set these seats a number of times in the past and never had a problem. I will re-review the manual but I have tried ever conceivable option.

Hmm that's strange. I've been disconnecting and reconnecting my battery every five minutes trying to sort out my HID install, and my memory seats are still good. Check your fuses. I don't remember if there's a specific seat memory fuse, but that could be the culprit.

I am sure it's something stupid that I am doing or not doing, but for the life of me I am at a loss. I wouldn't think there would be a fuse just for the memory seats, but will double check.

Anyone ever figure this out? The memory seats in my 99' LX don't seem to work. No beep, no movement, not sure where to start...

Dealership replaced my battery after I had the truck a day or two. Everything (down to the radio presets) did have to be re-set, but the memory seats work fine so that is most definitely NOT the cause. Or at least, it shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I agree battery has nothing to do with it. I just changed on mine it still works.

Make sure UR doors are closed

Set UR mirrors, seat and steering

Press and hold set and 1 for a few sec till u hear a beep

Thats it. If this doesn't work. U r screwed

I'n having the same problem - memory function doesn't work, everything else with the power seat does work. Did anyone ever find a solution for this?

Some Toyota models require the seat to be "initialized." I don't recall the 100 being one of them, but it's worth a shot. Slide the seat all the way forward , seat back all the way forward. Then go all the way back with the seat bottom (with one push). Then All the way back with the seat back. Then try setting seat memory.

If doesn't work, I'd check fuse and wiring. Could be a bad seat memory switch assembly. Mine sets fine when battery is disconnected

Had this problem take out the switch it’s simple just give a screw driver under it it’ll come right out open it up clean it because 9 out of ten there’ll be water damage clean the sockets put it back together and will work and also the ignition should be on , the engine not running and the hand brake up .

Thanks for these instructions @TXLX100 ! For anyone who might experience this, I followed the above steps and the memory functioned worked first try. Prior to this reset, no combination of holding and pressing worked, I thought I had no other choice but to pull the door panel. Happy to find out that wasn't the case.
