I did a search and couldn't find anything while my 1 year old is screaming in my ear. Sorry if it has been done.

I am currently working on replacing my blown HG and have everything un bolted and the head loose. The problem is I can not get the wiring harness completely unhooked from the transmission area to bring it up through the intake manifold and allow the head to come off. I have all connectors undone and I have traced it all the way back to the transfer case and there appears to be a support bracket for the loom that I cannot get a fix on. I am almost ready to drop the transfer case crossmember. Any ideas please? Am I missing something?

FYI, I ordered the HG DVD from Idahoe Doug but it has not arrived yet and this is my daily driver so I had to dive in.

I think so. I followed the FSM directions. I was able to disconnect all sensors in the engine compartment at the block and head. Also the two large ones leading back to the tranny at the firewall. There appears to be two smaller looms that continue and cross over the tranny to the passenger side. I have disconnected all the sensors back to the t-case. There is what looks like a bolt on loom holder at the point where the t-case is closest to the body. I can't get a good view of how to undo it or get my hands on it to feel my way around. I was just hoping someone would have a good trick to avoid dropping the crossmember. The FSM doesn't indicate anything along that line so I wonder if I am just a dufus.

Had to quit for tonight and will pick it up again in the morning. Any thoughts welcome.

Mo,

One of the things on my DVD you'll see is that you don't have to mess with the wiring harness, as there's a technique developed where you leave the intake manifold in the engine bay (along with the wiring harness trapped between runners 5/6 that you're working on. Just lift the intake up so you can get to the bolts/nuts that connect the upper/lower parts of the intake together. Then you may need to lift the intake a bit higher and begin unbolting the intake from the head starting at the hardest rear bolts. When done, tie the intake back from the head using rope over the fender down to the driver's front wheel and lift the head out.

PM me your number if you have any further questions.

Thanks Doug and landtank. I should be able to get it now. Probably without the profanity this time. :censor:

Appreciate the help.
