Some is good. But more is better.
Have a quiver of rides and then relish the selection.
I have been spending the holidays reading through the build threads gathering inspiration to start on my 75 FJ40. I came across this thread and I had to respond.
The following quotes are fantastic and they suite my situation to a "T".
"Some is good. But more is better.
Have a quiver of rides and then relish the selection."
"As long as they're both paid for, it costs you nothing but insurance and space to keep them.
They are both unique rides with unique uses."
I must be the luckiest guy in the world. My wife is the reason I am awash in cars. She never wants to get rid of any of them. It started in 1972 two months before we got married. She just had to have a 1967 Austin Healey 3000. We drove it for two years and when my VW bus was totaled we got a new Cutlass. The Healey was garaged and then started its odyssey from body shop to body shop.
We still have it an it will be finished in the next year or so...maybe.
In 1984 she had to have a 300ZX ( we should have finished the Healey)...We now have two of them. I hated the car until I discovered autoX. I raced it for four years until I decided that it needed to go on a diet. An 84 Z in mint condition, her answer was no, so I bought my own to race.
In 86 or so I bought a Jeep Cherokee, she hated it and wanted a Jeep safari. So a few years later we compromised and got a 75 FJ40. She kind of liked it but it is hard to drive. In 1996 we got an Lexus LX450.
We still have all of them but the Cutlass and the Jeep. The Lexus and one of the Z's are driven daily. The other Z will be up and running by next race season. The Healey...well who knows. The body shops are like free storage.
The 75 FJ40 is all in pieces. The frame has been sandblasted and primed and is leaning up against the wall in the garage in front of the race Z. As soon as the engine is back in the race car I will have ordered the suspension parts and will get started on it. When I get to that point I will start a build thread of my own.
I just want to thank everyone for the inspiration and add my .02. Keep them both if you can, you will hate yourself if you let it go.
