Ive searched and came up blank, Maybe I missed it. Anyhow I'm trying to see if there is a known upgrade that is a replacement for the 200 series alternator. Any insight would be fantastic. I have no benchmarks to surpass in my mind other than better than existing, if it exists, and I know very little at all about alternators. What is the life expectancy of the ome one
Thanks

What about this? 270 Amp XP High Output Alternator - 5.7L V8 3UR-FE - 2012 - Landcruiser - Toyota - XP Series Alternators - High Output Alternators

They also have a 370 AMP model.

Is there such thing as overkill on a super duper alternator - any negatives?

I have one of their alternators in my 80. It puts out a lot of power. As far as the 200 is concerned, the alternator says it puts out a constant 14.4v. I wonder how that would play with the ecu and emissions crap the 200 expects from the stock "smart alternator". Would it throw a CEL? I'd call DC Power Engineering first. They are very helpful and would know what's up.

Actually, the specifications state it is OEM compliant and won't throw a CEL. There you go. The one shown is for a 2012. They didn't show anything later than that. I'd like to get one for my 2014 eventually. Might call them if you are looking for 2014 and up.....there was no 2013 model year for the 200 was there?

I appreciate your insight.

One possibly relevant issue is the gauge of the wiring. The factory wiring was gauged for a certain amperage and I don't know if it was oversized? If not, a high amp alternator might not help much?

Good points of possible concern. I have a voicemail into the DC technical department. Hope to be able to follow up with what I learn if I can understand it. Thanks

There was no model year 2012 for the Land Cruiser ... my 2013 is proof positive that there was, indeed, a 2013 Model Year ;)

True. Might need to run a larger wire between the battery and the alternator. Might also have to upgrade your ground.

There was a 2012 model year, just not in North America.

Well then mystery solved. An American electric company makes MY alternators for a vehicle that was not available in North America....that's diversification.

Hey, I'm the one asking questions here @Roy Park

I've been searching for this info for a week. Couldn't find it but I suck at the internet for an Asian guy. I want to make sure I'm not putting too much stress on the alternator running dual batteries and in the alternative making sure the batteries are getting sufficient charge. I know they'll never get fully charged unless I plug into shore power, but enough to stay out of trouble.

180 amps in a 12 volt system is a bunch (technical term) of power. (That's the equivalent of an 18 amp outlet at 120 volts in your home, which will run pretty much anything except really big motors.) My owner's manual states the battery charging on the OEM system is maximum 5 amps, so the stock alternator has a lot of extra power available.

My '13 Cruiser was built in February of 2012 per the label on the driver's door panel.

And my Model Year 2013 Cruiser was built in April 2012 ... what's your point?
