So I just got done with with my 2 tone liner job a couple weeks ago and it turned out great. Decided to go wheeling at Disney, OK for the Big Meat Run this past weekend and got into the rear quarter ever so slightly. It creased the sheet metal so I decided to try to "massage" it out from the back side. I got the dent/ crease out but it ended up "lumpy". It wasn't that bad, but at the same time I just couldn,t take it. I knew it needed to be taken back down to the metal to get it smooth so I ground a patch of Al's off.
Next I added filler in several layers, making sure to get it all the way out to the edges of the remaining liner; in order to eliminate any transition lines. After sanding it smooth I sprayed it black with a rattle can and then added some adhesion promoter. I brewed a very small batch of Al's and shot the effected area, then slightly "fanned in" over the existing liner. I've got to admit the repair exceeded my expectations.
