I bought these Alcan Springs used and am getting ready to install them but have what is probably an obvious question. Which are the fronts and which are the rears. One set has 7 springs in the pack and one has 6. The military wraps are also different. The ones I took off had a equal number of springs in each set.

Just a guess as I have never owned Alcan springs, but the ones with more leaves should go in front (i.e. more weight due to engine). That is the way stock LC springs are.

Thanks. I know it was probably a stupid question as I was thinking the same thing but I didn't want to be 2nd guessing myself while putting them in.

You should be very happy with the alcan springs they are meant to be an excellent manufacturer. Many folks switch springs to gain wheel base. A search should probably yeild results here in the 40 section. I can't remember witch is longer in distance to the bolts in the middle but I think its the rear. If you have your ols ones a quick mearsure with a tape may help. good luck. I often have dreams of a set of nice alcans with orbit eyes in them... oh my god!!!! wow.

In the rear of the vehicle the long side of the springs point towards the rear of the cruiser. In the front the long end of the springs point toward the front bumper (if remaining stock)

Thanks but I got my answer in the 1st reply and am installing them now.
Thanks FF LC FREAK for the answer I needed and everyone else's help.
