Wow but Brrrrrrrrrrr!! One of these days, I'm going to have to tag along with you. Sounds like a cool place to visit.

Alaska is on my list to visit also. One of the last great fronteirs without going out of the country. I'd like a little backcountry drop off by plane and then float a river fishing and camping out each night...holding a shotgun full of slugs, or course.

Or a .454 Casull on the hip.

I was really thinking both.

Everyone carries a gun here, it's what you need to do!
If you ever thought of visiting here, do it! You won't be disappointed....

I want to drive up and stick my feet in the Arctic ocean. Probably not for very long though...

Daisy - where in AK are you? I thought the last picture could be Anchorage, but I wouldn't expect it to be 10 degrees this early in the season. I love the picture of "Dad's front yard."

Some of you may remember Bob & Katie Ostrom. They were part of our Land Cruiser community in Abq a few years back. They moved up to Anchorage, and Ellen and I visited them a couple years ago. It's pretty country up there!

Evan,

I'm NW of Anchorage in Wasilla.
As far as temps go, it hasn't been over 35 since I've been here!

I had the opportunity to do that with my dad 15 years ago. Fun trip.

Wow! That temp reading gave me a shiver down my spine sitting on my couch. Reminds me when I lived in ND. We had a day that was 30 below (90 below with the winid chill). I like cold weather, but it comes to the point that if it starts to hurts to breath, no thanks. Although I think it would be cool (pardon the pun) to visit AK, I will wait for a bit warmer season if I ever get the chance.

Sissies.

I never carried a gun when I lived in Alaska.

If I had a few months to spare, I'd LOVE to float the Yukon. Even cooler would putting in upstream of Whitehorse, and making a border crossing by boat. A trip like that would make Ft. Yukon look like a booming metropolis when you got there!
