Spent the morning cleaning the front frame and firewall. Lots of white over spray, more evidence of having been repainted before.

@coldtaco Did you consider just buying a LHD 75 (assuming they're out there) rather than do the swap? If so, what made you decide to do the swap anyways? I know that after years of owning one rig, you sometimes have too much sentimental value in it to sell.

Limited availability. Already spent money and time getting as much rust taken care of on this rig. Yeah could have just bought a new diesel Ram truck by the time I get done, but this truck should be good to go another 35+ years hopefully .

It’s the little things that make your day😁. I was afraid that I would have to somehow get some nuts welded in to mount the proper lhd steering dampener mount, but there already are captive nuts installed by mr. Toyota 👍 too bad he didn’t do the same for the steering box through bolts ☹️ On the rest of today’s list.

I re-read She’s Mad’s built of the BJ-74 to see how he did the steering box swap. He used the factory part that is inside the frame that provides the necessary spacers to prevent the steering box bolts from crushing the frame. So I wondered if I could use the one in mine. So I open it up and no go☹️ That sucker is welded to the frame. So close it back up and go to plan B.

Looking really good, just looked again at your steering box insert welding.
Compared to mine it could be the same truck, practically identical!
I washed my truck today, easier.

Nice. I like the manual prop valve.

Though, that booster has to go. :)
That booster was what Charles had put in the truck, I think it was from a 80 series? I still have the brake booster from the BJ70 donor but hasn’t been used in over 10 yrs
