AK has 5 classes of Mud Racing Trucks, this one will be a class I. Class I: 4 and 6 cylinder motors, naturally aspirated with DOT tires. Class II: V-8s, naturally aspirated up to 370 with DOT tires. Class III: V-8s of any displacement, naturally aspirated with DOT tires. Class IV: Unlimited displacement with power adders, unlimited tires. Class V: Diesel with unlimited tires.

The project thus far: 1973 FJ40, 1FZFE, A442F Tranny, FZJ80 t-case, radiator moved to the back, fuel cell/pump, a mess of wires... still. Plans in the near future, a spring over to fit 38.5x11x16" Boggers on the factory FZJ80 Rims, plastic racing seats with 5 point harnesses, custom exhaust off of the factory header pipes, electric puller fan shroud for the radiator AND, the big AND, an aluminum electrical box for all of the CRAP that goes with the fuel injection under my drivers seat.

So far this truck has cost $600, I paid $400 for the 40 from a fellow mudder and $200 for the pump and fuel cell. The FZJ was purchased for the locker for my trail truck for $800, so for all you 'boneyard' collectors, this is a true boneyard truck =)

Yep, I have a 15" electric puller fan and I am going to try and use the stock shroud, but if I can't get away with it I will build a tin shroud. Seats and harnesses ordered today from Summit... plastic with blue and black covers. I will keep putting pictures up as more goes together... next up though will be the electrical center. I have a box that will go under the drivers seat with foam padding for the brain and all necessary related wires to keep the motor running properly... Do I have to run the Trans ECU, or can I leave the shift solenoid unplugged like the FSM says for diagnosing?? Another question I had too, was on the 1FZFE, do you HAVE to keep the factory guage cluster (its called the combination meter in the book). I am now to the point where I am trying to eliminate as many wires from the rats nest as possible.

Ask over in the 80-series forum with a link to this thread.

should be a fun build. back in 05 there was a 40 running in the delta junction fair.

that 40 at the fair was none other than the famous Bill Coty.. I think... here are some pictures of todays work... exhaust

A little more progress, got the wires cleaned up into one small area, cut a bunch down and put everything pretty well in to looms. Still not sure if I cut too many out, but here in the next week I am going to put new plugs in, get the last few random wires hooked up and see if she will idle
