I’m looking for a clutch master cylinder for my 1973 FJ40. It’s the AISIN CMT-041 from what I can tell. I’ve ordered from 3 different parts warehouses and all have been either cancelled or delayed. I tried ordering directly from the AISIN store via Amazon, but they keep pushing the ship date back week after week, originally places May 12. It appears it might be discontinued as of this year?

Curious if anyone can point me in the right direction? Would love to pay retail, I’ve seen a certain vendor offering the item in stock, at double the retail value. I don’t really want to support that behavior, if possible. My 40 hasn’t made it out of the garage this summer! Looking to change that before it’s too late.

Aisin don't have it listed any longer on their catalogue....so probably discontinued.

Have you considered going with the later part number CMT014 instead? Rock Auto has plenty in stock for $30 something.

AISIN ceased production on the CMT-041 prior to July 2022, so it's been gone for quite some time. Vendors have been selling any remaining stock they may have had but replacement stock is long gone. We wanted to have available stock for our customers and purchased much of that stock from a variety of US and overseas sources at or above retail, hence the NOS valuation of the parts we have now. You may call it a behavior issue, I call it running a for-profit business. We are not retiring early on the sale of CMT-041 (our part number CLN60022N, OEM# 31410-60022) sales. We have just a few left, after that it's down to later model retrofits (not ideal for simplicity or proper restorations) or sourcing true aftermarket (likely Chinese) made replacements.

This is nothing new in the Land Cruiser world, when parts go discontinued, they are worth more, they cost more and they retail more, particularly Genuine Toyota and OEM parts such as those from AISIN, Denso, etc, etc.

Can you just put a kit in it? I bought for my 72 a master, slave and stainless steel braided hose off ebay for $120 delivered about a year ago. Very happy so far. joetlc

You’re correct, I was able to track down a PDF listing their 2024 discontinued items and the part number was in the preview, but I couldn’t get it to open.

Nah, I was talking about ordering from sites like rock auto, summit, parts house AZ, etc. they will take the order, the funds, and then wait a couple days and cancel the order.

The vendor that I saw mark the price up 100% was man-a-fre or however you spell it.

If you’re telling me your company knew it was discontinued and you were smart enough to buy up the stock to support your customers: that’s exactly why I would want to spend extra to get the right part. I have no issue with business, please realize I made the comment before I understood the item was unobtainable. Jeff Bezos still thinks he’s sending me one at the end of the week

Until today I thought I could simply replace the whole unit, but if I can’t I’d gladly consider a rebuild kit, and I believe I’m familiar with that seller…thanks for the info

Update for anyone who is on a similar path:

I ordered one from Cruiser Corps because they claimed it was AISIN and even had the photos on the website to prove it. Nope. Turned out to be a complete waste of time, they lied.

Then I figured I’d give the more expensive option a chance, but I noticed on the MANAFRE site they claim it’s AISIN but the photo showed identical to the aftermarket version I already recieved. I called and they explained it was in fact aftermarket, and not in stock. Another misrepresentation.

So, thanks to Kurt, I gladly placed an order for 1 of 3 remaining in stock at Cruiser Outfitters. It was the most expensive, for good reason, and like I said before: you get what you pay for!
