@Kyle Bell Thank you for providing a quick response - the 17" height is really intriguing to me as I'm having trouble finding storage bins/boxes that seem to fit under the 13" deck height of the standard SS1. I'm in the process of making some changes to my kit and thinking through what changes if I go with the SS1.

That was the same situation for the customer that wanted the extra height. Do you have specific bins in mind? I have some suggestions that I used for about 2 years with the standard height, but they were simple rubbermaid totes. They worked surprisingly well, but obviously were not comparable to a pelican case or anything like that.

I've got some plastic footlockers at the end of life that measure: 32.5 by 15.75 by 13.75 inches (length by width by height) that I'm looking to replace.

I've been looking at the Plano Sportsman Trunk, both the 1819 and 1919 versions which have the following dimensions:

37.75" long x 18.25" wide x 14" high.

I'm totally open to suggestion if you can point my towards what you or others have been using as I've been having trouble locating bins that I think would work for me with an SS1.

Thanks in advance!

So I was using the bins and cooler below with success. Basically I had all the 'kitchen' gear in one of the large totes, all of my 'camp tools' in the other, and used the small bins for various vehicle tools, parts, etc. This set up worked very well and allowed me to be flexible with camp set up, plus made swapping from camping to daily duties very simple. Here's a pic of a typical set up I would use. (any CO folks recognize where this picture was taken?)

What's the best way to get in touch with you off the forum? Just about ready to pull the trigger, assuming the 17" legs are an option, but would like to chat a little more.

Thanks.

Best place for more in depth conversation is to shoot us an email at info@airdowngearup.com

Happy to clear anything up!

FYI folks, slightly used SS1 up for sale. See below. This has been my personal unit for the last ~12 months or so.

Not half bad. Just trying to have something to sleep on by HIH9, so I think we're good

Not a problem! We will be able to get something to you well ahead of HIH9. The sleeping platform is always nice for the 'expo' style events, especially with the ground always being a bit soupy/muddy for HIH.

I'm not sure I could go back to slumming it on the ground like a chump at this point. The platform is quiet, secure and comfy!

And when you get visitors like this to your camp site, it's nice to not be on the ground! haha. Recent trip to Fruita CO.

I think this drawer refrigerator is the perfect size to fit under the standard height platform. It is manufactured by indel B ... They make some really nice looking units... It is just under 10" tall and is 17.5" wide and 27.56" deep.

Yes! I have always thought it would be great to install the 100 Series Tailgate Storage Lid tailgate storage and free up a drawer's worth of gear for one of these!

This would really keep the set up nice and clean while maintaining the pre-deployed sleeping setup, which is so nice for rolling into camp!
