I cannot afford $73 to replace my horrible cracked hose.

Anyone replaced it with something "else"?

Dryer vent, or if you still have a skeleton, tape it up w/black electrial tape. Works & will buy you some time.

3" Shop-vac hose, connected to the air cleaner housing with a rubber pipe connector & hose clamps. I even used a shop vac attachment for the air horn. Here's a pic. Less than $20 as I recall. HTH

CNCFJ40 - thanks I like that idea, it appeals to the scrounge in me. Idiot question but where does one get rubber pipe connectors?

LG - if I can't get some shop vac hose I'll probably go with your idea so thanks.

You got a Home Desperate or Lowes in your area, or something similar? Go to the plumbing dept. The rubber fitting with hose clamps on each end that connects the stock air snorkle to the vac hose is a repair coupler for drain/waste pipe. They can be found in many different diameters.
