Getting ready to rotate my rear axle and point it at the xfer case output flange since I'm going to run a CV. Any tips on how to line it up? Install the driveshaft and eyeball it so the centerline of the shaft looks perpendicular to the output flange? Just tack the perches, guess, and keep bumping it 1* until it stops vibrating?

This is for my runner with leaf springs...

eyeball it, slightly low. And get a wrap bar ;)

I'm about to highjack - what about the same situation for the front. Do you still want to angle the front pinion flange a degree or two downward to compensate for torque?

Highjack over-

upwards on the front..

I drive in 4wd at 60 mph...

:D

Thanks, since I'm completely going through my vehicle and springing it over and running a front CV I just wanted to make sure it was done right. Thanks again.

hey are there any good write ups on how to do this corectly ive looked but found nothing im thinking of doing it myself but not sure what ive gotta do to the driveshaft to make it work.

don't have to do anything to the DS.. if it is a CV unit, point the pinion at the tcase. if it is a non cv type.. Don't ;)

If you want to make it perfect you could use your angle finder, it would be a PITA though.

Connect DS, measure angle of DS.
Disconnect DS, measure angle of pinion flange.

Repeat until angle difference is 90deg

I just eyeballed mine, made is 1 deg low or so, no vibs.
