Hey everyone,

I've been reading through the forums here for a long time, but this will be my first post/question. I'm in the middle of changing out the original globes on my 2000 LX, and I have run into a problem where I cannot get the new accumulator to seat into the thread. It just keeps spinning and spinning no matter which way I orient it or apply pressure. This is occurring on the driver's side rear, and I did not encounter this issue on the passenger side, as I have already installed those. The original globe took a lot of elbow grease to unscrew, so I'm wondering if I might have damaged the threads taking it out. Should I try to use a tap and die set? Is it ok to apply some lubricant into the thread? Any advice is much appreciated.

You can add a little AHC fluid to the threads and keep trying to thread it. My driver front took a little longer than the others bc of the angle I think. I would not try to the tap and die.
Good luck

I really appreciate the reply and recomendation. Unfortunately, the fluid didn't seem to help much. I've now spent 4 hours yesterday and 2 hours this morning, and I still cannot get it started on the threads. It's quite frustrating, especially since I got all the other 3 done in about an hour and a half. I will avoid using the tap and die, but do you have any other suggestions to help get it started?

Do the threads look good on the new globe? It’s not unheard of for a new part to have marred threads. You may try to thread an old globe in to check. You could try to take a picture of the truck side to inspect.

I don’t think it will hurt anything to chase the threads, but don’t go too deep and damage the mating surface inside.

Maybe @2001LC has encountered this before?

I tried screwing in the old globe to no avail. The threads on the new globe seem to be fine. I tried to get a picture, but it's a little hard to see.

Definitely strange that the old globe wouldn’t go back on. Do the threads on the old globe look ok?
Any chance it’s a wrong part?
I don’t have much more advice unfortunately other than what Bisho said

Update: I managed to get the globe seated into the thread using a m22x1.5 thread chaser. I had to go over the bolt on the globe and the fitting on the truck multiple times before it finally seated. The thread chaser set was quite hard to find; the only place I could find in the Nashville metro was one Autozone 30 miles from me. Here's the link to the set for anyone interested.

Thread Chaser Set

Thanks again for all the help. Now I can load up Techstream and start adjusting pressures.
