Am Having Tor drop a Vortec into my chocolate dipped lifted FJ60crzr and will make it a DD from that point on. Want to comfy up the interior and wonder what the consensus is for seating?? Hear of the BMW and Tor's famous bracket design but wonder what the options are from those who have gone this route.....Have pic of the after market console from CCT.. Adds another dimension of comfort for the right arm, never knew where to put it till I installed this bit of cush. Also added the cup holders and I love the locking feature. Only draw back is the inside needed some rubber mats to dampen the sheet metal sound of stuff roaming around in there when driving....

ScottCo,

Are you local? (Seattle). Tor did my vortec conversion and I have some 3 series seats in my rig (with Tor's brackets of course)...happy to let you check them out. Based on the difference in comfort I'd change out the seats.

I am starting to get the drift......Pristine and comfort are not on the same page. I love the 3 series set up, hope there is enough $ left in the bank after the repower ?? Work with me Tor.......So I may have some really sweet seats for sale...anyone like cherry FJ 60 seats over cush beeeeemer seats? And Major I appreciate the offer but I'm in Colorado...

When's your rig going in for the heart transplant? You'll love the vortec and seats....Tor's work is worth every penny.

Tor is super busy so i can't get it in till Aug for a fall completion date. Soooo excited to get going on this project!

Agree that the seats look really nice. Isuzu rodeo seats work with minimal effort (wallowing out the rail bolt holes and some bending, no welding etc. required) and are *much* more comfortable than my stock seats. Caveat - it will raise you up in your seat, so if you are tall, could end up having less headroom.

I've got both my front seats replaced and have the 60/40 rear seat for my rig, but haven't installed it yet. The rear install requires some custom bracket work, and until recently i didn't have access to welding gear.

YMMV as always, but they're pretty cool, and I now have a power adjustable drivers seat, that for the front two cost me less than $100.00 i beleive for the whole seat assembly.Available in a variety of colors and fabric or leather.

Hey fellas! I too need to upgrade my seats in my 60, I just bought two fairly new X5 front seats, who is TOR and do these seat bracket conversions exist or should I hit the drawing board? Thanks!

I made my own seat brakets to install Lexus seats. But if his brackets had been available when I did the mod I would have gone that way. Good seats make a huge difference on long road trips, and BMW seats are among the best available. I think even pristine stock seats are pretty poor by modern standards.

You should look up photos of a HJ61 interior the seats are quite nice and they bolt right in. I know someone that has a full set of brownish color for sale. They come from a 1988 landcruiser HJ61.

while those 61 turbo seats are super sweet there are not really available .. unless you are in Japan or super lucky in Europe in my books . .

Beauty does not equate to comfort and I could use a bit more lumbar support for this old back so will keep looking for the non sport BMW buckets. Tor says the sport seats are hard to get in and out of as they have that bubble bolster on the side that gets in the way on the Cruiser's. Thanks for all the comments it all helps in the diligence and search...I love this Mud Hater crowd!

I got the seats from IPOR - direct drop in replacement. I've logged 10-12 hours at a time in these and love them. took about an hour to replace both seats.
