Yeah....it made the steering a little numb feeling. It's not horrible but shims did cross my mind.
Going on a day run tomorrow with a good mix of driving. We shall see how it goes....especially at highway speeds.

Those look like the ones I was bidding on from southern Colorado I hope they work out for you.

They were probably the same ones. They were gold cad plated but I painted them black. Came from Profits Cruisers.

After my trip yesterday, the shackles can stay. I am used to the road feel now and it's acceptable. It rides alot smoother and seems to work better off road too.

Took the wagon out for a little exploring yesterday. Checked out some sites near Cleator, AZ. First stop was at the Golden Turkey Mine and Mill site. Seemed like it was a pretty big operation at one point.

Next stop was the Cleator bar for a beer. Then we headed up to the Desoto mine and spent a good while exploring inside.

After over a year of sitting on my dining room table, I decide to install the inside portion of this aftermarket heat and air conditioning setup in the 40. It is bolted in using all the supplied brackets. I hooked up the water lines but not the ac stuff so far. The heat and defrost are now functional.

Really enjoying catching up on your build thread. Question about the Lizard Skin. Was there a reason you didn't spray inside the area under the seat where the jack holder is?

Funny you should mention that...it was the first time I used the stuff and was worried about running out. I ended up having plenty. Enough to due the front section of another 40. Then I just got lazy and never redid that section.

The funny part is I just ordered more Lizard skin this morning. I plan to use more on the LV.... little later down the road. In the mean time, I plan to use the LZ on the interior panels of my rock buggy.

cool buggy @JackA it looks sweet. keep us posted it will be interesting to see more of it. i have always wanted one, will probably never have one:rofl::D because cruisers....

I built my buggy back in 2003. The first run was 12-3-03. It's had some major rebuilds but is still going strong. I ran it in KOH 2008 to 2011 with a best 9th and worst 21st finishes. I then raced Lucas Oil regional short course and won my class championship 3 years in a row. 2 of those years I was undefeated.
It deserves a fresh motor and trans now...lol

Man you guys with all this wrenching experience amaze me. Nothing to swap a motor or trans. Envious of those skills. Mine are limited to welding. Just never really did any wrenching over the years.

I am just a do it your self kind of guy. All the information is out there and there's always trial and error going on. I wouldn't have my Cruisers or this buggy unless I built them myself. Mostly to save money on labor so I could buy the good parts. In the off road world, it is always best to buy the best. Buy cheap and you'll be buying stuff twice...lol

I look at projects pretty open minded towards my skill set. I love learning new things. I figure if someone else can do it, I should be able to do the same. Results may vary but then I know. So, I say GO FOR IT
