Got them from Rockauto. They are nitrogen charged. Figured I would do something better than stock but still a fairly cheap price.

I bought Monroe off eBay for the Pig and only Used the fronts. The rear had these and they are legit. No telling how old they are either.

Got a bunch of small items done....new spark plugs and wires, oem side view mirror (maybe wrong mirror head but I like the round one better), replaced all the spring bushings at the frame end, rear wiring harness is rebuilt and installed, and more drum brake adjusting and bleeding. Also swapped my parking brake drum cause the first one had a small seal groove and leaked.

Interesting key cover, Jack.

I remember my Dad was partial to those back in the day.

Wonder why that was listed only for the later FJ55s? Probably the "deluxe" nature of those !

Funny you say that, as I bought that key cover years ago for my 55. Just didn't use it then. Thought it fit nicely with this 40 and all the other new oem bits I have been using.

Thanks for the kind words. Makes it worth while busting my butt to get this 40 done. I got my Dad to come help and we got all the wiring issues resolved. Everything works as it should except the high beam indicator (forgot to check the bulb before installing the cluster) and the wipers (don't have any wiper parts). I still have to adjust the brakes as it takes to pumps to stop, but that hasn't stop me from running around the neighborhood. It runs and drives pretty good.

I took a little break from the 40 and finished up my 55 art project. It's kind of a memorial to the 55 that gave it's life to save this 40. It also reminds me of the 55 I had and sold to get my LV going. Here's the before and after

I got back to work on the 40. Adjusted the brakes a little more and it now stops on the first pump. It can/will lock up the rears under hard braking though. I think I have them set about as good as it gets with these drums.
With all that accomplished, I set out to the gas station and then for a short cruise. I drove about 10 miles and never really went above 45 mph. It's over 100 degrees today and I was getting kind of toasty. Cruiser temp was good though. The clutch seems weak (maybe needs adjustment) and there's some minor vibes from the rear end but all in all.............I think it went great for the first real drive.

looks great! glad she's out and about!

Been out cruising some more. Dam odometer got stuck as it was turning to 68300.
I swapped out the tires and wheels from my LV. It's gonna get new ones. Made a big difference in drivability of the 40. Put on some later hubcaps as well. Saving the acorns for the LV too.
Stopped by a friends and did a quick comparison with his Willys high hood.

Went to the junkyard today after seeing a CL ad. Found this and got some small goodies.
