100% turning capability? I was on a trail the other day and told my buddy a few times how much better my turning radius was with my center open. I agree with better than a locked front, but 100%?

Plus there's far less chance of breakage with an unlocked front

Is there??? Because this thread is about the difference in stability between a 99 with a rear locker and 2000+ with all the modern stability and tractions aids.

... But would a 2000+ with ATRAC and VSC make the truck safer and easier to control in an accident avoidance maneuver?:steer: Is VSC an effective stability control system like a modern system or is it more targeted for off road use?

Guilty, But so is just about everyone who posted here. Including you. I think the OPs original question was answered in the first 5 posts. After that it became "what are the additional benefits/detractors of ATRAC/Locker. Plenty valid and if I was new to this game I would be interested in all the extra input.

As my new friend YukonLX once said. " this is a freaking online forum for a bunch of dudes driving around in the woods, not open heart surgery."

With all due respect to you, each one of my posts in the thread referred back to Ross' original question.

The extra input i think is a benefit to a new guy but the tone can be something like "hey you dont have 4.88's a three diff locks? You're a Pussy", when the question was about money vs value of the more advanced traction aids on a 2000+. I'm sure Ross is smart enough to wade through the posts (as his follow-up indicates) and no doubt the wisdom of crowds will bubble up to help his decision.

My point in calling this out is the forums ability to take a simple question and minutiae the hell out it.
