Im new here and I was just wondering if I could get some advice on building her. I have so far put a 2 chamber flowmaster and 2 700ff Hella lights. Not really looking at any high lift kits just from 2"-4" would be nice. Soon i will be getting a tube rear end bumper from trail gear and front end also. I have been looking at iron man 4x4 for its 2" lift but im not sure. Any advice would be awesome and I will have pictures up soon. Oh and any advice on where to put spare tire. Ive heard a lot of going on the roof but im not sure if thats a good idea. Please advice would be really awesome!!!!!!

We had a '95 4Runner and all we did was add a good set of rock sliders, old man emu suspension and a detroit locker in the rear. We used 33x10.50 BFG mud terrains on the stock alloy wheels. It didn't have huge flex but it had a good well balanced ride and kept right up with alot of guys with much more equipment.

33's are well within the stock 4.11 diff's power band, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Biggest worry would be breakage in the axle and IFS, but if you're careful, you can do well.

my 90 consists of procomp 3" rear springs and ?? front 3" lift
and 33x10.50 15 BFG TA AT KO..

no lockers...no sliders...

this year at the texas toyota jamboree it did awesome!!!
I was expecting to suck, being used to my spooled 85 p/u but I was very impressed. and I drive it everyday too and love it!

85+92 did u still have the IFS on your 4runner? Thank u everybody u were very helpful. Oh and is there any mods for IFS for a better ride?

yup!!

if you just want a fun cheap toy..these are great!!

if you want to go balls to the wall...youll want to SAS

for your front bumper , check out Addicted Offroad

x2 on Addicted. Scotty is a great guy to deal with.

As for the Ironman lift you were looking at. I installed one of their lifts on an FZJ a few weeks back and was not impressed with them at all. If it were my money I'd shop somewhere else. (personally I like OME stuff, just not the price)

Depends on what you dont like about it. there are stiffer t-bars available and other than shocks there really isnt much else you can do, other than adjusting the t-bars (dont really recommend that).

Like everyone else said though....dont sink any performance $ into the 3.0, and keep it simple and low on the suspension, either it will be exactly what you need or you will need a SAS. Im glad I didnt have alot of $ in the pile of IFS I threw in the garbage. Or the 3.0 I yanked.

I think I like addicted off road bumper more than I like the trail gear low profile front bumper and its also a little cheaper than trail gears front bumper. If u guys have rock sliders where did u get them?

Also the OME suspension kit can come with new t- bars but it comes with a price of course

I ran downey 26mm t-bars and cranked them a bit. I really liked the ride! It was firm and sporty, but not too stiff. I think the OME bars are 24 or 25mm (i could be wrong)....but again its all a matter of what you want to investin the IFS. I dont recommend doing them. They are also a PITA to swap, and kinda dangereous. My adjuster bolts were seized and I had to buy new ones from toyota and they were pretty expensive...

Did your 4runner handle well with the 33x10.50 tires?

It handled great on the street and the dirt with the tires and the suspension. OUr '95 had the stock 4:88 gears and it went really well with that tire size. We were running upgraded front torsion bars, I think Downeys, but the emu or sway away torsion bars are great as well. We also added polyeurethane sway bar bushings with the stock front and rear sway bars and it made a huge difference in the body roll. The poly sway bar bushings are a great cheap addition to that 4Runner.

Well if I do swap out the t-bars my grandfather has a lift so we could stand underneath the 4runner if needed.

Alright I just need to know good idea or bad idea for swaping t-bars? 4rnr brings up some good points on the t-bars. This is also my DD so if the t-bars from the OME are a better ride off and on road or should I just leave them stock? Once again thank u everybody for all the advice:D

Not really. You can just retain as much of the original handling and ride quality as possible when you lift it and give it more suspension travel. Note, on that old of a vehicle all the bushings may be old warn and tired. Replacing them will likely help allot.

I like ARB's best, but then it is made for bouncing 100lbs roos at speed so you aren't stranded in the middle of nowhere. That is the type of protection I need. IA has way to many deer.

Adding weight to the front like when adding a heavy duty bumper, you will want stronger t-bars. The OME ones are sized for a ARB bull bar bumper, with or without winch. You don't need to crank up the lift, but you also can if you desire. 1.5" is about the maximum you can go in the front with IFS. 4crawler has some IFS lift blocks and a bunch to say about lifts and and what tires you can fit. The OME t-bars with their shocks are supposed to be very good at eating up washboard and rough roads. They were designed for the Australian Outback with it's poor roads.
4crawler: 4Crawler Offroad Products

The xmass I'm getting a '95 4runner with 3.0slow and 5 speed manual in exchange for a cooler of beef, my brother thinks this is a good deal:lol:. The mods I'll likely make to it are first an ARB bull bar bumper, plus OME Torsion bars but 0" lift for now. Later I'll add 4crawler 1" IFS lift blocks, crank front suspension up 1", and also add OME medium strength rear springs (1.5" lift), and OME front and rear shocks. I'll keep the tires at 31" as they are commonly available. Eventually I'll add Toyota electric or ARB air lockers and change the differentials to suit the 31" tire size. Also I'll likely be modifying the exhaust system per engnbldr's recommendations. My brother say's it needs a new exhaust system as there are holes in it now.

Right, I see engnbldr says leave the exhaust alone. The engine needs some back pressure for low end power. 4x4Wire's TrailTalk Forums: need a lil more power any suggestions? OK, that simplifies things.
