Added my scepter cans and jerry can mounts to the trailer and moved the handbrake since I cound not put it back where it came from due to my RTT rack system. I also mounted a 3" PVC pipe that is 7.5' long under the bed that has a screw in cap at tail end that will hold my rolled up awning inside of it. I tried 2 150lb gas springs to lift the rack system straight up from the middle wood brace in the center that devides the lids and it did great, we put my mom on top with a piece of plywood in which she weighs 125lbs, we then let go of the plywood and up she went very quickly. We were trying this because i need something to lift the rack system when the RTT is on it which weighs 100lbs, once up I will pull down slightly and put pins in the pipes on all corners to lock it. I actually need to get 75 or 100lb gas springs for these 150lb springs were still a bit** to pull back down with her on it. From the lowest point to highest is an 18" raise to allow the lids to clear and they are 3' lids each.

The tube for the awning is a nice simple idea I like it. I picked up a couple of those same can brackets yesterday too. I'm just debating puting them on the tongue like you did or mounting them to the side of the tub in front of the wheels.

I initially thought I would dothat way as well but went with this idea for it is a little more out of the way I felt? I was going to do like the bracket shows in the yahoo M101 group but then it puts the can lower than the frame rail itself. These will be my water cans for the fuel I will keep locked under the lid in bed. I am going to make a metal braket that will keep these cans from getting snatched that will lock from the inside of the body so can only be unlocked from inside.

I'm not sure if mine are exactly the same as his but mine are typical run-o-the-mill Blitz style mounts. I used to be able to find them at Checker or Autozone but they have sinced stopped carrying them as they've transitioned to plastic cans instead of the metal Blitz cans. I found mine at a local Military surplus store. My LCI water cans fit in them perfectly. My Scepter fuel can is a little too snug but will work.

mine are us military jerry can brackets that i purchased new off ebay. NOS?

Yeah, I was wondering how well the plastic cans fit in those. I also have two LCI water cans that I'd like to mount.
