I have a complete FJ62 air cleaner assembly and would like to put it on my 60. Other than ordering a carb adapter from Oz, anyone have alternatives?

I'll find something to put in place of the MAF, but finding something for the carb is proving difficult. Thoughts?

Thanks!

No upside to that swap, imo. 62 filter is expensive, and hard to come by. Doesn't breathe or flow any better, what's the point? Not trying to be a smart ass, but this is swap for swaps sake, or what?

Unless you're going to add a snorkel, there's no real performance gain... Does the "cyclonic filter" filter more efficiently? I dunno - Stock air cleaners with a good quality (denso) filter work just fine.

Besides, the parts you need will cost you $$$, if you can find them. I believe the only thing available is the carb cover for the Aussie models, unless you make something yourself.

Make it. Cobble the parts together from the two assemblies (or find a spare 2F assembly to hack, so you still have a good one).

Then proceed with the snorkel install.

SOR has a couple of these in stock -- Not in the catalog. Ask for part # 17805-61010

From a Euro -Japanese early FJ60 gas.

No wonder I couldn't find it, thanks Spike!

Not looking for any kind of peformance gain..just cleaning up some space around the engine. My stock cleaner is pretty beat up, especially after my battery blew up a few years back. I got such a good deal from a local pull-a-part, that I figured it would at least be aesthetically pleasing if nothing else.

from what i've seen I like the 62 setup better than the 60. If you could acquire all the parts for reasonable $$ then I think it would be a good idea. I never really liked the 60 air filter setup.

A rubber tube connects to that carb cover and goes to one of those round type cleaners on the Rt. fender.

I bought the one in the pic, but it was pointed out to me that I can't mess with the stock air cleaner set up 'cuz it won't pass the CA smog nazis .. So I'll save it until I move to Montana.

When I did my snorkel setup it was either hack the stock air assembly, run a butt load of tubing around the engine bay to connect everything, or source an aussy assembly. I picked the third and I am SO glad I did. Super easy to do and cleaned up my engine bay.

In case anyone needs to know, Spectre has some in stock for $50. Part # 012-12A-U.

FWIW It looks like the diesel version of the top of the 62's air cleaner has a 'normal' tube coming out of it rather than the squarish AFM bend & flange. I considered going that way for my TPI engine swap, but decided just to mod the 62 top by replacing the whole squarish AFM bend with a mandrel bend steel tube from SPD Exhaust.

I just love the Related Content window. It really puts alot of threads into perspective.

IF the is an adapter for the Weber that allows you to use the stock air filter, then you'll need one of those as well as the OZ part.

Or if there is an adapter that allows the use of a typical US 4 bbl carb/TBI type air filter and you can find one of the carb hats used on the turbo'd TransAm's (& I *think* the early Buick T-Types) then you can go that route.

Or you can build something from scratch.
