Have you found the leak if not you can use freon to test of you don't have a way to use nitrogen to pressure test add freon it will have some pressure maybe 40 pounds or more normally with nitrogen I do 100psi then soak down every connection with spray bottle with water and 5 drops of dawn dish detergent look for bubbles

Yeah I budgeted a certain number to getting this done and if not I’ll just be hot and enjoy the ride.

This Georgia heat and humidity is rough right now though.

Going to try the uv dye but this is a great idea. I grew up looking for air leaks this way with a spray bottle and a dawn mixture. (Usually looking on tires though)

Use nylog blue on the fittings before you seal it all back up

UPDATE: leak test completed. Uv light with glasses. I added one can of Freon and uv dye. Connections from firewall are good. Driers good. Condenser fittings aren’t leaking. The only place I saw that gives me a big concern is the compressor itself. Ok the bottom side the front seal lit up under uv. I did spray a dawn mixture on it while it was off and didn’t see any bubbles so I’m unsure if it’s actively leaking.

I filled it up with Freon to what I previously read was appropriate pressure numbers. Like 280 on the high side and 45 on the low. I’ll drive it every day and see what happens. If it leaks out again I’ll just try to source a compressor. Probably while I’m at it a condenser because that’ll stay with the car hopefully for a long time.

Anyone have a used non leaking compressor?

At the point, I’ve just hit the notify me when available at rock auto and denso and hope not to fry in this Georgia heat over the next 2 months

Figures they'd be out of stock. I drug my feet on buying when they were readily available.

I need two compressors too. 1 for my 60 and 1 for 40.

Has anyone had good luck using a reseal kit for these?

I have been looking for a compressor myself. And I found that guy Jonas Dunrey has a few in his stash. I don't know what his handle is here but look him up on IG. H e also has a YouTube account Mize. I reached out to him and he had a couple 60 compressors. I ended up finding one from a local guy here otherwise I would picked one up from him.

I once got all the parts needed from him for a full AC overhaul. I stayed with R12 and found a local AC guy to refill my system. AC Still blows ice cold after a few years of my refurb.
