I am about to pull the trigger on an out of state LX570. The seller has been good to deal with. Some local mechanics that previously serviced the car and a local toyota dealer have checked it out and said that it looks good. Of course, everyone in the town knows each other, so who knows ... I pulled the service records from Lexus and noticed a couple of things that caused me some questions.

A PO serviced the truck at Lexus dealerships until 2014 (around 95,000 miles). Since then the records are sparse and appears to be limited to oil changes and brakes. The owner says he has never had any problems with the car. Most of the items on the Lexus sheet are benign (a PO would take the car to the dealer if they needed air in the tires). I also noticed that the water pump was changed around 50,000 miles (sounds normal for the 08 models). Had some issues with rattles and the passenger side mirror.

There are what appear to be a couple of major items. The secondary air injection pumps and valves were replaced at 55,000. At 63,000 a corroded relay for the secondary air injection system was replaced. At 68000 additional air induction issues were repaired. At this point the system was repaired following Toyota TSBs. At 73,000 the LX was back in the shop due to transmission clutch brake damage. The sheet indicates the transmission was replaced using TSB-LS-0008-13. There were a couple of minor codes after that, but the record with Lexus ends at 95,000.

The truck currently has 135,000. The seller bought it 2 years ago with 118,000 miles on it. The carfax does not indicate any other major service (and NONE of the above items). So, what do you guys think. Are these items something that I should be concerned about? The price is about the lowest I've seen in the country for a truck with less than 150,000.

Thanks in advance!

New trans at 95,000miles? I'd walk away from that one.

New trans @73k could be an opportunity, assuming the problem lie in that and it was resolved.

Did the price is low you have money to fix any items. Doesn’t grab my attention, but I bought an ultra low price lx assuming I’d spend some to repair. Have been surprised with how little it really needed, more time than money type issues.

Thanks. I appreciate all of the advise. Going back to the seller to show him what I found. I was most baffled by the transmission. But I agree that it’s probably best to pass on this one.
