hello everyone!
so i have a leakage in my front axle and i want to rebuild it
the problem is i cant find a grease that contains molly stuff
even the workshops uses high temp bearing grease
the question is, is it really necessary to use molly grease ? or is there any alternative for this ?
i asked my dad about it and he said: dam son in my old land cruiser we use any grease we see, its a toyota don't think too much

iam dead :)

The Tokyo Consortium will frown with pierced brow upon non-moly.
The Valvoline Ford/Merc jizz with moly is recommended by several folk I trust.
Amazon carries a veritable cornucopia in the moly section.
Anything from 3% to 5% will do you right.
Your father is correct...the 40 probably did use any ol'e thing. On the other hand, a 40 guy will probably frown upon that statement.
Bottom line is moly meets spec to provide the stated serviceable life. Anything less will provide something less.
It's up to you.

Yeah, your dad is not quite wrong and not quite right.

Any fresh grease is better than no grease.
Molly grease in a lithium base is superior than just whatever grease you see

Any grease is better than no grease. Moly (molybdenum) additive has wear benefits for the birf, so is better. At most parts counters, if you ask for birf grease, they will look at you like you have two heads! The far more common thing to ask for is CV grease, for the axles on front wheel drive cars.

Thank you all for the help
I've found lucas xtra heavy-duty grease that says its fortified with an extreme pressure additive. Maybe moly? Not sure. But if anyone can conform it would be great

I have been using the thought that if a part needing grease is having to slide against something like in a birf or the slip joint in the driveshaft then I use a moly grease . In a wheel bearing or U joint where you have pieces that are rolling against one another I use a non moly grease. Really having any kind of grease is better than no grease.

SNIP

If it has moly in it, it will say moly. There are different "extreme pressure additives" and moly could be generically considered to be one of them. However, when there is moly present, it's nearly always acknowledged as moly because the need for it tends to be pretty specific, as it is when servicing the birfs.

no need to get anything special with the moly grease, I just use generic black moly grease and its good to go. and if for whatever reason its not practicable to get moly grease wheel bearing grease will work as well. any grease is better than none. if youre replacing the axle seals and doing a rebuild youll need about 3 tubes to do the whole job, 1 1/2 tubes per side
