Yes, there are a few 80's floating around out there with a winch behind the factory bumper. Google images should help you find some.

That's what I'm talkin bout! Less weight

Welcome to the forum. You have a nice rig. Really cant beat the Troopers for simplicity and tree climbing ability. My teenage son is the proud owner of a super clean 1988 Trooper SE with 169,000 miles. There's a guy down in Georgia (Jerry Lemon?) that stocks NOS trooper parts if needed. He is on "the planet". The Land Cruiser is looking bad@ss, keep up the base lining.
JERRY IS A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE

Small world on Jerry Lemond. Not to take away from your Land Cruiser build but do you have info on what you did to your trooper anywhere? My son saw the flares on yours and started asking lots of questions. Lighting is another issue. He definitely needs better illumination.

To cut down on wind noise I attached pipe insulation to the front of the rack. I'll let you know how it works

@Yansa Your 80 is looking incredible. I especially love the front, so much so that I want to paint my front bumper and front grille black! Did you just use normal spray paint or a special kind?

Thanks!

Yeah, you got skills. You are transforming it fast. Not a fan of the 20s, but let us know how they perform on the trail. Subscribed to see what else you do.

The rack was designed for a range rover sport. You can find them on 2006 model years and newer. I mounted it to the roof using Yakima Gutter mounts. It seems to be good and secure. Adding the foam to the front really has Quieted the wind noise.
The front was rattle painted with a rattlecan but im going to redo it either this week end or next. My middle son reciently purchased a new pickup and im going to rapturline the bed. I'll probably tackle that Sunday. I bought a Quart of base coat Toyota 202(black) and a quart clear to reshoot the grill and bumper. it should look alot better. Unless i go ahead and shoot the LC with Black Rapturliner. I did that to one of my old troopers. It makes them Bulletproof but it gets a little old after a while. Although only needing a scrub brush and water hose to clean it is convienent.

I'll let ya know.............................................................

For everybody that does not like the wheels, there's somebody that does, including me. Funny thing, I actually saw a brand new 4 Runner with those exact wheels, last night. I asked the owner if he would sell them!

Rig looks great.

I have heard that a wrap of cord in a spiral fashion can help eliminate wind noise

Ya know, back in the 80's Ford had a wind noise problem with their radio antennas's. if you look at them now they are wrapped with a spiral wire.
We may be on to something.

I installed the LED lights in the LC. It really makes a difference!
