Here is a listing for a suposed 1961 fj25 located in my city of El paso texas. I saw this in person many years ago when I was first looking for an Fj40 to buy as my first vehicle. Back then, it was pieced together, I don't remember much about it other than that. I was barely starting out and didn't know what to look for. Anyway, The guy selling it usually has stuff for sell for more than what I'm willing to pay for, however, I figured this might still interest someone on here even if it's just for pictures. The ad shows he wants 25k for it. If you want me to message him or you message him yourself, I can always go in person and check things out for you. Maybe you can talk him down or convince him on an important part you're looking for. This guy has been selling, or at least trying to sell, land cruises for at least 8 years. Perhaps he's willing to be flexible with some prices.

Yeah, this guy's probably been watching too many restorations shows on cars where they "buy" these projects for a ton of money. I had almost bought a 1973 Fj40 from him for, I wanna say, 13k back in 2017. I didn't have the roof or rear panels. Luckily I round mine a few weeks later for a lot cheaper and complete from an old man.

I'm not sure where he's found all his cruisers before, but I rmember him having an Fj55, a few Fj40s, one or 2 diesel land cruisers, and some fj60s. Always priced high but all those have sold that I'm aware of. I've never bought anything from him though.

The ad says it has an automatic transmission. :hmm:

I remember this when it was posted in Az A couple years ago… IIRC he bought it for like $6k
I called on that one. The seller was asking $6,000.00 then some mud experts got involved and told him it was worth much more. The seller has several buyers who put bids in. This guy bought it. I would assume he paid $15,000-$16,000.00 from other bids that I know of.

These unrestored 25s aren’t worth what these speculators hope they’re worth.

Overseas they bring big bucks. I think the problem with our market is buyers didn't realize what a rare Land Cruiser was. For example, a 1970's FJ40 that they built 100,000 of for the U.S. Market alone is not rare. Then, every one started importing them too which drove the prices down even further. Now the Land Cruiser market is saturated with guys who lost money on their trucks. There were only around 300 FJ25's built for the U.S.. Very rare. In other countries in Asia prices have taken off on these. I believe they will be the most valuable Land Cruisers some day once people get educated. When that will take place, I have no idea. I can tell you the early ones cost a fortune to restore!

They are definitely expensive to restore that’s for sure. I certainly think they SHOULD be worth more than I’ve seen them sell for given the rarity and cost of parts etc.

To me it is interesting to watch changes in markets. I go far enough back to remember lots of parts and used parts were cheap to buy. Years pass and what happens is amazing. If I would have known this in high school, I would own a HEMI CUDA right now.
