A/C Smell

I can't seem to find the rear drain. Is there one back there?

I cleaned the front passenger side A/C drain yesterday.. it took a bit of
work to get a 10 gauge wire jammed up in there.. it went in almost 8 foot!! is that normal or did i break something? Thanks

Not certain without looking. I know that I see a drip when I have the rear air on though. Maybe somebody else here can answer this question?

I would say that you went too far with the wire. Consider your home AC unit or a radiator - there are thin fins with tubing snaking through. Even if you did not puncture something, you could have bent the fins, restricting air flow.

i ran the AC a bunch today and i don't get any water dripping out. i'm pretty sure i cleaned the drain well. can someone point me to the location of this part in the FSM or repair manual? I can seem to find it. I want to see what that drain is connected to and where it goes. Also I would like to find a way to test the drain is not plugged any more.. someone mentioned doing this with water.... where do you dump the water?

well you got me worried so i ripped into the evaporator box following the on vehicle inspection guide. there was a lot of dust, hair, leaves, etc in there.. if you clean your drain out and still have problems i suggest you open this box up and blow it out. i inspected the evap fins and all the tubing and all is good. if you don't have cabin filters i can see how a lot of dust and junk can pile up in there.

i don't think my drain was clogged, i've been running the a/c all day and inside of the evap box was completely dry. it's a PITA to get to it!

jonpierre, if it's any consolation, after I "cleaned" out the drain tube it was a few weeks of running the A/C before I got any water drainage from it? After that it seemed much better...clean smell and consistent drainage each time I ran the system.

Thanks Wellcraft19 & pint! You only need about 12"-18" of hose...the rest just gets coiled up in the evaporator housing. I decided to take the evap housing cover off and vac it out...glad I did that. It would be nice to have a filter at the air intake/cowl before it even gets to the blower motor/fan; that would go along way in keeping the dust/dirt out downstream.
