This is my drawer build, still unfinished, hopefully with in the next week or two it will be completed.

Still trying to decide what to do with the top.

Either a top over the actual drawer so that the top could be slid out, with hinged wings that will be on the cabinet portion and will follow the contour lines of the inside of the vehicle so that I could access the sides of the vehicle where the jack and wheel well are. If I go that route I will also have to put hinges so that I could lift the top to access the drawer when needed.

Or, a stationary top with side wings on hinges that will also follow the contour lines of the vehicle.

Lastly, either a flip up top and incorporate side wings on hinges, that will follow the contour lines of the vehicles.

As of now, I'm liking the first idea best. I will just have to take it step by step and see if I can make it actually function the way I'm seeing it in my mind.

A drawer face will be last, along with some black primer and a spray on bed liner.

Next time I am at my parents I will gather my notes. I am building it with my father at his place, and will post the measurements / dimensions of the drawer and cabinet incase someone maybe interested building there own storage

I'm not really understanding what you mean by option #1 but that's quite a long span (~42") between the two vertical side walls. Do you plan on reinforcing the upper deck with angle iron or anything?

Reinforcing the top portion has crossed my mind, but I'm hoping the oak board I'm using should be sturdy enough. I think it's 3/4 or 5/8 inch thick.

As far as my first option/ idea I was thinking about putting a top on the inside portion of the drawer, which would be the drawer that actually slides out. This would also allow me to keep things on the top and slide out the drawer to reach gear on top. The top would also have a hinge so that it could be lifted up if needed to get gear out of the drawer. The outside portion/cabinet/box would have wings that are hinged to the box so that it extends my storage area to the sides of the inside of the vehicle.

For bow hunting I'd keep gear that is not used often but needed, like waders, warm boots, extra cloths, badlands ox pack for packing out game, rain gear, batteries other misc items in the drawer. The top will hold my bow strapped down, tree saddle and climbing sticks.

I doubt I'll ever really put really heavy weight in or on the drawer.

Updating my drawer build, so far it's about 80% complete. Pretty much just doing building when I have the time and improvising as I go along.

Still need to install L brackets and a removable top side wings for the top of the system.

Carpet both the top and top side wings.

Add some a handle to the front of the drawer.

Some sort of strap system on top to hold down gear.

Add a piece of trim, either aluminum or wood to the bottom were I wasn't able to cut the carpet flush. I may just outline the face of the drawer in a trim to get it a more uniform look.

Maybe a pad lock with a double hinge thing. Ill add steel/aluminum to back the hinge for strength and some small bolts. Still wondering if should go about doing this. It would add a piece a mind for valuables to be stored in.

Any comments or ideas would be great.

What makes it unique or more functional for a bowhunter?

A single deep drawer for the most part. This will accommodate my bow, cloths for varying temps here in MD during September through January, waders, trash bags, a Badlands Ox frame pack, batteries, water, flashlights, plastic bin to hold meat, tree saddle, LoneWolf climber and maybe my LoneWolf climbing stick.

A shallow two drawer system wouldn't be able to hold my bow, pack and climber if I wanted to put it in there.

Huh. Just curious, is there a reason you need some of that bigger stuff in a drawer?

Also do you need a pack frame in MD?

Have you estimated total weight given a single deep drawer with respect to the slides?

Yeah, I have a baby girl so i may be Lug around things like a stroller, rock and play, baby gym things like that I will need the room on top for. Drawer slides should handle the weight ok, I'm guessing at most 75lbs of gear.

I quarter my deer in the woods, and pack it out. I live in city limits and in a condo so its not really appropriate or normal to clean game like that where I live. Plus it cuts out a very long drag up and down streams, creeks, hills and ravines.
